As a career firefighter I can’t thank you enough for allowing a department to train in that house. It’s invaluable to learn on real structures and not just mock ups. Love NS even more now.

Love the info in the videos and the constant attention to detail. I am a project manager for a residential remodel company in Louisville, Ky and have a small idea of what this house will cost all-in and am shocked that this I a spec house without a pre-determined buyer. I’m sure you will learn a lot along the warty and will be a much better builder because of this project! Thanks Nick

Congrats for taking on this challenging project. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Ps ignore the critics, they have more idealism than experience.

Well done offering the local fire department the old house for training. These training opportunities are more valuable than the general public realizes and may end up saving lives.

Probably won’t get the opportunity to see it, unfortunately. We’ll probably get an update on the 45 Oak project when framing’s done 🙄

Looks like it's going to be a beautiful home! I'm just having a hard time with the siding that looks exactly like the roof, or is it my monitor? All one color just seems a little off to me. But I'm not the person purchasing it either. I can't wait to see the finished product!

The neighbors must hate you 😆 Personally, I'd rather not walk up steps every time I came home. And a heated driveway probably would have cost a lot less and still helped it sell, although some people may have never looked past the hill to find out it's heated.

Damn… that’s a hell of a lot of work on a spec. Hope the market can provide a decent return on all that effort.

Can't wait to see the end result. Ambitious but smart. But I feel bad for the neighbors; listening to that noise for weeks would drive me insane.

Love following your companys work and love your vision and perhaps this has already been asked but was there a problem with the existing structure that it needed to be torn down? If not seems awfully wasteful/not environmentally friendly. I know you guys get more than yori fair share of croticism on here so i hate to pile on but i coildnt help thinking it while watching videos of the demo

7200 Sqft in Boston area. GUH. That's gonna cost a pretty penny.

Those neighbors are probably never going to buy a home from you after all that hammering. Looks like it will be a good new house though!

I feel for the neighbors that had to deal with that racket for weeks. That definitely wasn't worth it from the communities perspective.

I like the idea of removing the slope driveway, very popular here in the Okanagan on 90s build homes. I’m just wondering how the cedar will actually look in real life. Definitely not my design taste, perhaps I am biased with colonial architecture and victorian over modern monopoly farm house designs.

Spending all that $ and still ending up with a garage door on the facade seems nuts; there's a reason you rarely see garage doors on the fronts of higher-end custom homes. And yes, this is just one man's opinion, but the current design, viewed from the street, looks like someone took an existing 70s spec house, replaced the windows, and threw on some new cladding to give it an (out of place) mod look. I would have seriously considered a footprint where the garage filled a portion of the space of the prior basement with garage door on the side of the house, or better yet, the garage behind the existing footprint at ground or split level which would have saved a whole bunch of digging, looked better, and wouldn't require walking up a flight of stairs every time you get out of the car. This also would have provided the opportunity for a rear coutyard with an opening facing the stream.

I don't think you entirely answered why you were demolishing the house. You mentioned the foundation wasn't great. But, this was found after demolishing. Although not modern, not out of date either. I'm shocked a house like this would have been demolished rather then finding an open lot to build on
@missulu9 ай бұрын
Yikes, shame to lose the original house. I hope the new house is worth it.
