Great for ratting, pest birds, rabbit, squirrel, etc. Awesome for plinking of course! As others have mentioned, hand warmers in the winter time help a lot. A little "massage"/tune = 700+fps in .22 cal and will not mean a large sacrifice when properly performed.
@runerebel84416 жыл бұрын
Nice video as always Andy. I have the same gun in cal 22. I put a HPA paintball 13cu tank on mine. its regulated at 850 psi. it gives very stable velocitys because of the regulator in the tank. It shots H&N FTT 14,8 grn pellets at an ave 630 fps and is very accurate with them to. Great rifle indeed. Take care my friend and have a nice weekend. Regards Rune

Just bought one second hand in perfect condition and with a carrot walnut wooden custom made riffle but. It’s a beautiful gun and it’s shooting hole in hole on 15 meters.

I have the 850 magnum with the wooden stock. It uses the 12g co2 cartridges, it's very accurate and bulk 12g co2 is cheaper than the 88g. The rifle also looks better than the standard plastic version. Another advantage is you can remove the co2 cartridge adaptor after use without loss of the co2.
@Andrew-qn8fu6 жыл бұрын
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that grouping! Superb, never fancied the idea of the 88g but with that adaptor I would consider one. It's basically a c02 Walther rm8.

Nice review Andy. Looks like a lot of stuff for the money. Also there are good deals to be had out there on 88g and 12g co2 if you buy in bulk.
@drspaseebo4105 жыл бұрын
Yes there are ~ you need to hunt around online for the lowest prices, and choose known brands. For example, I bought 500 (five hundred) 12g Umarex CO2 canisters for GB£135. That works out to 27p each !

So! Where do I acquire the 850 with these accessories? I’ve been a powder burner for 55 years and an instructor and competitive shooter. I have recently researched and mostly watch air technology. Impressive! This is good next transition without the pump. I have two NP’s, Multi-pump, and two minor custom built CO2’s for my wife and myself. Both certified multiple discipline 2nd “A” instructors. Like the silence.

Very nice.. review and rifle. Thank you! :) Gotta consider buying one of these myself too. Lots of 88g cartridges stacked at home cuz own a Sig MCX. Would be sweet to own a target co2 rifle also.

I bought one of these in .177 caliber. I had it 2 years and out of the blue the valve assembly failed and when you thread a new tank on it just dumps all the gas in about 10 seconds. I priced a new valve assy. and it's $100. I'm tempted to buy another in .22 caliber since I regretted not getting the 22 in the first place. Overall it really was a superior rifle but I feel like Hammerli owes me a valve at a reasonable price at least. I did try replacing the O-ring which is how I learned that it was the valve.

Maybe I was just unlucky but I wouldn't touch another one of these with a bargepole ! The first one I had was the earlier version with the wooden stock and no cover for the CO2 cartridge. The first time I took it out it jammed (to cut a long story short the probe was actually pulling pellets out of the mag backwards) I took it back to the shop who fiddled about with it and returned it to me. But, no matter what type of pellet I tried, the same jam kept occurring. Six times I returned it until I eventually got my money back. A couple of years back I saw the new Hammerli polymer version at another retailer. I was assured that the old problem had been recognised and dealt with so I decided to give it another go. Within a few mags being put through it at my clubs ranges exactly the same problem started all over again !! The gun was returned to the retailer twice but still the problem persisted. Eventually their in house Gunsmith agreed that the probe was actually pulling the pellets out backwards and jamming the cocking mechanism and it appeared to him to be an inherent problem and agreed another full refund. I ended up replacing it with a PCP and will never return to CO2 rifles for serious shooting. Buy one of these at your peril !

I have the Walther RM8 and apart from it being CO2 and different stock pattern that is the same gun. The safety catch I feel is cheap and nasty but not a bad rifle overall.

I've been interested in this rifle for ages, think this review has just put it on my next to buy list but only because I own one of those 88g to 12g adapters, the price of 88g co2 is just silly. Great review Mr.
@HappyDude15 жыл бұрын
When you use the adapter do you lose power in the shot ?
@andybeckett44805 жыл бұрын
I have one of these in .177 and don't seem to get above about 8.5ftlb with AA Diabolo Field 8.4gr on a moderate (ie not cold) day. I also have an RM8 in .177 which shot 10.5 ft lb same ammunition, same day. Thought it might be an issue with the adapter but shot the same on an 88g cart.

I’ve spent 20 years in the US firearms industry, but I’m not that in touch with modern airguns. I have a question......would it make sense to build a co2 gun that is also a springer as an option, for extra power, or just extend the range usage of the Co2? I know you boys across the pond might have legal issues, but in the US, do you see it as a viable option, or a waste of a workable gun?

Hi Andy Would you do a HPA/PCP conversion on this gun for us please? Many thanks, Frank
@anaphylastiks5 ай бұрын
Wonder if its better, to use 12 gram CO2 cartridges rather than the 88gram. The 88gram might get a bit low and not be effective enough, then have to waste half the tank..where as replacing a couple of 12 grams isn't so expensive.
@wetbanditstudios6 жыл бұрын

Sometimes the metal mags can give you jamming problems, the plastic mags are much better. I've read about this problem many times and the plastic mags fix the fault.

Hey, I have been thinking about Gamo gx-40 but now I m not sure what to buy. Gamo gx-40 with all (optic, silancer etc.) is more than 700$, so should I buy Gamo gx-40 or Hammerli 850 air magnum?

Have one of these & also an RM8 Varmint both in 177. I use the Walther C02 adapter most of the time, but find that with some C02 capsules I need to put a 5p coin as a spacer between the capsules otherwise it will loose the seal on the screw in tab and vent all the C02, sometimes damaging the small O ring in the process.

Personally I wouldn't buy a co2 rifle I bought something similar to this year's ago and it stopped working the first time out with it I took it back to the place in Sheffield and upgraded to a Springer a HW80. I think for that kind of money I'd go for a precharged 100%
