Bought this very gun a few months ago and I love it. I had to do a couple of mods to get it right for me, number one being that annoying automatic safety. I did find it an issue, so I took it apart, cut away the tang that engages with the bolt and now the safety only operates when I want it to..perfect. I slapped a Hawke scope on it and added a nice rifle sling. Nice rifle, smooth action and accurate. Good honest review Andy.

Would you say stripping this rifle down is easy to do? Any things not to do ?
@curlyjim25502 жыл бұрын
@@maximumeffort7836 I wouldn't recommend a novice try to strip it down, but if you're competent around rifles then it's pretty easy to strip, clean and grease. The only things that can possibly be displaced when you take the cover plate off are a little buffer spring for the hammer, and that red plastic piece at the back of the safety catch, it'll only fit one way and it did have me scratching my head a bit trying to figure out which way up it went. Best thing to do is take a quick pic with your phone.

@@curlyjim2550 ah great thanks for the heads up, I have rebuilt 2 old CO2 rifles smk 78 qb/th stocks with better components in the past, will chrono the M2 when I get it for power and strip it down at some point, I know the older hammerli had a mod for the valve to make extra holes in it, I suppose it's a balancing act of stronger hammer spring, preload spacer, port transfer, and improved flow in the valve body ? Looking forward to removing that auto safety catch nanny feature 🤗

I have the first gen 850 in .22. It came with the silencer/moderator. At room temperature it shoots a 14.3 pellet about 604 fps, which is slightly under 12 foot pounds. Even with the silencer it has a bark. Mine is very accurate, using a cheap 4x32 scope. My preferred distance is up to 30 yards and have no trouble hitting the target. I modified the 88 gram capsule by drilling and adding a 1/8 pipe thread foster fitting so it can be bulk filled. I bought a small CO2 tank from a welding supply store and can get it refilled at the local beer store, which refills CO2 containers.

I'v got Hammerli 850 AirMagnum. 4.5mm/. 177 cal 16j strong ( witch is actualy the same rifle ) for a 4 years for now, maybe even 5 years. It is the most fun, most accurate and most practicle for use, for plinking and small game...and lots of the other most... ☺️ For the peoples who did not know, that is actually Walther Dominator converted on CO2, that 1st gen was made from the most of the original Walther parts, barrel is also original Walther Dominator barrel. When I was decide to buy that CO2 rifle, all my friends was jokin me that i will buy a CO2 child toy 😁😁😆 Now, specialy now after more than 4 years its diferent story, not even one issue, not even one seal break. But just to mention, 400 shots with 88g cartridge is for 7.5J valve model, my 16J can shooting some 220 strong shots in smmer time and abouth 180 to 200 in the winter time, depends how fast i shooting and if i put it in the car during the pause, CO2 recovery faster. I can recommend it, that is for sure very serius rifle, if not the only one serious CO2 air rifle, first and the best for sure. 👍

Having been looking for a new air rifle to buy, this (Version 1) was the one I was looking for after having read and watched plenty of reviews about "budget" air rifles, mainly for it's accuracy. Finally I bought the RM8 even so it was a bit more expensiv but I preferred a PCP to a Co2. And as in my country the limitation is fixed to 7,5 Joule / less than 6 ftp, refilling the reservoir with a pump is not too much of an effort :-) I've put a Hawk Vantage 4-12 x 40 Ao scope on the RM8 and comparing it to my Norica rifle with a 3-9 x 40 scope mounted, I fully agree with you - it makes a huge difference and I wouldn't want to miss this bit of extra magnification for a second. Great review.

I watched this video and had to buy one, this is one of the very best co2 rifles you can buy. The only down side is the cost of 88g co2 carts. However if you have the time you can blitz through an 88g in a day and have a big smile on your face by the end of the day. 😊 . Also you can now buy an adaptor that saves the co2 should you not want to shoot a whole cartridge of co2. Put the adaptor on, go shooting and just twist off the co2 with the adaptor on and nothing escapes.

50 years ago our parents would never let us have C02 rifles or pistols. They didn't want to have to run us down to get cartridges. We had to pump. This rifle uses the larger C02. I could see where this would sell in places where it rains or is damp. Keep the nicer rifles in the cabinet, and take the synthetic outdoors. I do that on shotgun. I take my old 870 out with the parkerized metal. No rust issues. 741fps is a fun speed to shoot. The younger guys would like that and the black rifle looks.

These days you can get decently priced PCP rifles anyway, at least if you buy used, cO2 rifles are kinda mostly "toys". There quite a few very nice pistols and revolvers, but I can`t think of many nice cO2 rifles lol..
@praetorian653 ай бұрын
This is a nice gun. I got it mainly because of the convenience of CO2 and the price. What I would say is I wouldn't bother getting the kit. If you can find it rifle only, it is much cheaper and the included suppressor and scope aren't particularly great. Get the base rifle along with a decent suppressor and your own scope. In my personal experience, JSB pellets tend to work nicely, as do Bisley magnums. It also fires JSB Knockout slugs, which I've actually found to be the most accurate projectile fire so far, however they only work without the suppressor (so far, I've tested 2 - I need to try some more). The 12g co2 adapter is convenient, though be aware the smaller size appears to be more susceptible to cold issues.

I had the previous 850. It got me back into air guns. I very quickly moved onto a pcp , getting the Gamo Phox package which I think is a better starter kit.

Truly a sweet review for this nice sunny day! I'd gladly heve one of these. No idea what the price of one would be on my local airgun market though. Loved the kit. Had more than enough of accessories. Did not though notice a hat for the barrel threading, if not were to use the/a suppressor. I am personally a fan of co2 rifles myself - even though mostly being into military styled co2 rifles as the DPMS there in the background of the video. Own one Crosman .177 break barrel rifle with scope, and that is enough for me in that class. But I am usually intrigued by allkinda different co2 rifles. And this one seemed way nice. The co2 even in the front, rather than in the stock. And the suitability to use the double 12g co2 adapter is more than great - since apparently not all 88g co2 rifles can seat them. Own q few co2 rifles, but yet no in the style of this one. Would probably be a sweet backgarden target plinker for me. Been thinking of the Beretta CX4 Storm kit. But that one ain't that cheap either. The CX4 though do compete inca bit different class also with internal blowback system and a 30-shot rotary belt magazine..

If they had made the front piece of the stock a little bigger and detach from further back it would have allowed and adaptor to be fitted and a small 13ci air tank be added and fit inside the stock without the need to modify it. That would have made it PCP and CO2 and it would have been quite unique. People would then have had the option to shoot it as PCP or CO2 and switch between them dependent on their need. It would have made the gun quite unique and added to its appeal. It could have been a gun people shot as Co2 until they could afford to but a tank or when they needed to refill a tank. Versatile providing choices. Maybe they can produce it as a hybrid and call it the RM850.......lol
@DBiggaFigga6664 жыл бұрын
What they really needed to do was make the front piece bigger and detach from further back. That way you could have the best of both worlds and attach an adaptor and a small air tank to use it as a PCP and the bottle still sit nicely in the stock without the need to butcher the stock to modify it and then you could switch between air and co2 depending on your need. They missed a trick there and it would have made it a far more versatile gun and made it very unique.

@feetfirstintohell6930 Жыл бұрын
I think all co2 powered rifles suffer with leakage over time if not used. Best advice is either make sure you’ve used all the gas before you put it away. Or as Andy has said, consider the 2 x 12 gram co2 adapter for this particular rifle. That way if you can’t use all the gas before having to put it away for a period of time, at least you’re only losing a couple of the 12 gram capsules and not a massive 88 gram one 👍🏻

@@andrewwallace9290 no worries. Also, forgot to mention that despite being that cheap it's also regulated so frankly an absolute bargain. Will be getting one myself in the next couple of weeks!

Without a doubt a Seneca Aspen. Add a UTG 3-9×40 scope- AO set at 25 y and focus is good from 10 y to 100. Oil it a lot. Work the pump slowly to keep the heat low. For $400, Fantastic gun accurate to 70 y and climbing. Side lever is easy and smooth. Safety is outside of the trigger guard where it should be, yet easy to reach. Trigger is very good, especially at v light pull.

As always and excellent review I get your point on the co2 but for that money you could get a decent rm8 deal I've seen them go for a, similar price with toys on too 😁

At that weight you might as well get a springer.
