That is bloody amazing to watch. Driver seemed like a real nice bloke who appreciated a bit of company in the cab sharing his local knowledge along the way!

Calvin Witt he was a super nice guy he even came back from his depot with a gift for me a hot drinks holder that said on it about making announcements if your held up for I think it’s more than 90 seconds so they know someone is on the front and it’s not just an automated voice. He also tried to let us keep the high vis jackets we had but was not allowed to do so. Super nice guy he was willing to let me spend the day with him. If I did not have other things going on that day I’d of taken up the offer
It's very sad to see grenfell tower before the tragedy makes you feel for the poor victims
@billymillest15297 жыл бұрын
it really does. at the time of filming this cab ride i had no clue to what the tower was. it was only when i was pointed it out by someone i had shown the video to i realised. quite something to have it on film. i plan to in the future film hopfully if i can get a cab ride the Circle line. when i do that if i can and get to do the full line and also film ill be able to have new footage taken with the tower no longer in view. will be diffrent and sad for sure but i guess with London everything always changes!.

I've visited the UK five times and rode the Tube as often as possible. It's so much more efficient than what we do in the US and our obsession with automobiles. Great video!

Bob Rogers Totally agree with you. Recently visited London and was astounded at that city's highly efficient and reliable public transportation network. Blows America's comparable systems out of the water!
@lrt_unimog83163 жыл бұрын
Good public transport such as this is befitting of a capital-though other capitals, such as that I grew up in (if it counts; it’s a city-state) are better at it.

This is my favourite cabride vid because it features London, my old stomping ground, and because of the conversation between BillyMillest and the driver.

I worked as a guard and motorman (driver) on the Piccadilly and District lines in the 70s and 80s and finally as a train operator (driver only) on this line. Sad to hear in the cab conversation a new driver rang his former instructor for advice to get the train moving. Amazing after training and still doesn't know what to do! Only 25 percent passed a rigorous oral exam in the old days! Things change, I suppose.

I must say this is an amazing video. The conversation with the driver is amazingly insightful and very nice to listen to. Good job!

I was working at Latimer RD a few weeks ago doing a rerail on the Westbound, seeing Grenfell Tower in person really was a shocker.

Noddy Mac oh wow what's it like now after the fire. Sounds like an interesting job as well
@NoddyMaccy7 жыл бұрын
The pictures don't do it any justice really. It's quite chilling. Was standing there looking at it with one of the site supervisors at one point talking about the horror of it all. If you look in the four foot (between the running rails) between Wood Lane and Latimer RD, they are the rails we put in. The job isn't bad, but gonna go back into signals as that's far better.
@billymillest15297 жыл бұрын
Noddy Mac yes must of been quite something to see and look at it all. Scary sounds fun to chop and change with the jobs. You must get to do some fun things working for them for sure

Not so much on the P/WAY, but with signals you do as it gets your brain going when things go wrong and shit hits the fan. My favourite is points.

For some reason unknown to me this new S Stock driver’s eye view video makes the S Stock train appear as though it’s travelling at a higher speed than the C Stock driver’s eye view video of 1989. I am fortunate to own the original District and H&C lines driver’s eye view DVD which shows unpainted Aluminium C and D Stock trains in their original condition; as well as the original Central Line driver’s eye view which was filmed on board a 1962 TS train also in DVD.

Great video. Yeh St Marys was abandoned when Aldgate East was moved to the east of its former location. It used to be situated where the Hammersmith and District lines run in parallel before combining. These changes happened in 1938 because the triangle formed with the Metropolitan and circle lines meant the trains couldnt sit in the triangle without blocking other lines - thus causing operational delays. Oh btw other note on the description. Barking is not in Essex. Its in Greater London.
@Gary05575 жыл бұрын
S stock isn’t old, the 1972/3 stock currently on the Bakerloo line is the oldest.

@train_paul94784 жыл бұрын
. Great video very impressed with it. I am wanting to do a driver’s eye view documentary of the Hammersmith & City line doing a narration on the history and present facts of the railway. As your videos already show most of the route between the two destination I wanted to ask if it was possible to use your videos to make the drivers eye view documentary? The video will also include shots by the side of the railway, on the train and at stations. Your name will be featured within the credits if you allow me to use your videos and also put a link in to your channel. It is of course your choice but it would be a great opportunity. I am an amateur film maker who does this as my hobby and would use this video for personal use. Let me know 👍🏻

Toby Meehan yeah, it's not, and the official name is a little bit misleading, but the sky is not falling. The "cased" line on the map (like the overground, DLR, trams) will help people figure out that it's different.

It shouldn't be called 'Elizabeth Line' it's not part of the underground. Like the overground it should've remained crossrail
