HS Produkt in Croatia has been on fire with their product line! Everything they're putting out has been really interesting lately, from their bullpup rifle to now this pistol. Two years ago this pistol was already being shown off in Croatia, I guess it's finally making it to the West. There are three different version of the pistol, one with a threaded extended barrel. It's meant to be a Duty or Service pistol.

This is the first and only REAL Glock killer. I have a very early Springfield XD 5" tactical and it has been a great handgun and i am intrigued by this apparent upgrade from the XD line. A former law enforcement member i showed my XD to when i first got it his response was "its like a Glock" being a palimer pistol is where it begins and ends. I have friends that have Glocks, one of my best friends has about every model you can imagine. It will outshoot a Glock, at least mine did, before every Glock fan hates on me.

The xdm elite osp isa little better shooter than the xdm the echelon is better than the xdm line including the precision. I have them all I hit a broomstick at 20 yards twice out of 5 shots with the echelon from one knee. The eps carry fits flush on the sides. I prefer the aggressive texture frame. It grips me as I grip it like a handshake.

Finally a company has a mounting solution for optics other than those STUPID plates! The Echelon looks like an exceptional firearm. I was thinking of getting an XDM Elite Compact, are there any rumors of Springfield phasing out the XDM line? Personally, I hope not. I like that they have different models for different purposes, it’s one of the things that sets their offerings apart.

Agreed... it seems like a top-notch design, innovative and well thought out... but I'm having trouble NOT seeing it as just another polymer, striker-fired, 9mm. Being that I have some really nice 9mm pistols, do I REALLY want another one? I'm just not convinced I do.

I didnt realize how big it is until you put it next to the Glock 17. So this first gun is really geared toward LE. I guess in the future small grip modules and slide assemblies will be available.

Hammer Sticker you always do great videos. Wow this is a fantastic pistol. Sort of a Bigger Hellcat. I hope Springfield offers this like the G19 and the G45. I have the original and Pro Hellcats's, love both. Hellcat's have the best grip and standard sights. The Hellcat's need no aftermarket changes, for me they are perfection. I still like my GLOCK's but the Hellcat is my favorite Conceal carry. Springfield should work on getting this pistol to a large Law Enforcement Department which will help them get more business.

Looks like a well thought out handgun. Definitely checks all the boxes, especially for someone looking for a “do all” handgun. The red dot mounting system sounds very smart and extra texture High on the grip and for index points is excellent. I’ll definitely have to get one next year, after prices come down and they have a gear up promotion for it. Glock killer? I hate when that phrase is used. There are many polymer frame handguns better than a Glock, but the fanboys are unchanged. Great gun great review, thank you.

I love this design. I prefer to carry a compact (like G19) when outside but would love to switch to a full size frame for home defense or perhaps competition in the future. With this, I can just buy multiple length frames and a thinner frame for IWB carry.

HS is going to rough out the prototypes, under close guidance from Springfield designers, then submit the design to Springfield for evaluation, testing, and approval. I have no idea of the name(s) of the head Springfield designers. Why don't you email them and ask. Or, you can try asking thetruthaboutguns guys, they might actually know who.

They may have a good setup if they come out with a Glock 19 compact size pistol and get their mags to stay together. A couple reviewers had the 20 round mag base plates falling off. I will not purchase one due the Springfield previous business practices. I stopped shooting Glocks years ago when I switched to M&P's, but the Springfield will have a lot of proving to do before it will "Eat Glocks lunch".

That "kind of an indexing point for your thumb" is where your offhand should be going. My hands are kinda small, so that would be where my left thumb is going not my right thumb. If your hands are bigger, that would be where the inside/upper part of your palm goes.

The sights are already able to co-witness with most red dot sights, such as the RMR. The pistol itself was made to be a duty or service pistol. It's why it comes with a 17 and 20 round magazines. There are different versions of the pistol, so everything is already covered.

Springfield guns have wear parts that are not sold to the public and require you to send your gun back to them for maintenance. On the positive side their service is very good and in my case they paid for the shipping so no complaints, but IMO after what happened during Stupid19 (where only Glock and 1911 parts were readily available) that disqualifies them from any serious usage as far as I am concerned which is why I sold mine and will never buy one again.

this is such a good point man. if you're a one gun owner... prolly still best that it's a glock for convenience sake. i wouldn't wanna have to ride around for half a month waiting for something to be fixed.. will be interesting to see how quickly this thing gets adopted tho. first gun besides a glock i'm interested in EDCing. when a 45 equivalent comes out with this with the subcompact barrel and full grip i'll be all over it

I like the XD's grip safety. Coming from revolvers, striker-fired pistols have light (by comparison) and short trigger pulls; the grip safety provides a passive safety that I don't need to remember to actuate and gives me extra comfort when reholstering. Removing the grip safety is an absolute no-go for me and I will not consider this pistol, despite my like of HS Produkt.

It would’ve been nice if they used the same mags as the Mod2 series did. Otherwise it appears to be a much better design than the Mod2. The term “ Glock killer “ has beefed thrown around for a long time yet none have ever truly infringed on Glock’s reputation. One reason why is because few platforms have had the simplistic design to stay around long enough for parts and accessories to be widespread and cheap. Obviously, the trigger on this new Springfield will quiet the whining about mushy triggers in SA striker fired guns.

It looks like another Glock copy. Springfield/HS Produkt definitely put a little extras into the Echelon and added some aftermarket goochi Glock options as standard like a trigger job, gas peddle, slide cuts, grip reduction and frame work, etc. But, all in all, the internals are a copy of Glock. There is a lot of stuff on the Echelon that Glock should learn from or considering doing.

Its definitely XDM killer. May also cut into the P320 market with the dual sear for drop safety. Debatable if it can get in on any m&p or glock marketshare.

Try to actually try one out when they show up. That's the only logical way to fully know. So far reviewed features look extremely good. While I try to buy only American made, the Walther PDPs, and possibly this I can make exceptions for. The Walther PDP is as close to perfect overall, in my particular case, as I've ever handled. I was so close to buying one, but wished the slide hadn't been so wide. My use of course, is strictly for a carry pistol. If, or when this Springfield proves itself in a more compact size, I'm probably going to get it.
