The hammock does appear to be a good option for you Harry; with a under blanket and a 3x3 DD tarp, maybe the way to go. It does have many advantages as you can sleep over rough, wet ground and you don't really need a flat area of ground....just 2 trees or posts etc for your hammock; if you don't find any trees etc you can always make a ground dwelling shelter from your tarp.....win...win! You could be so comfy in the forest you might not want to come back 😉👍

🤣 so true Gilly, I find the wilds not lonely, but a place to be agreeably alone. I even find the noise of voices disturbing , even my own sometimes, although I am sociable. I guess I've been a semi solitary since I was 10. Wow, 56 years ago. How time flies when your having fun. ✌ peace to you.

Hi Harry, thanks for sharing. I've been gifted a hammock (and bought the strops) but not tried it yet myself, still a ground dweller. I really should give it a shot though. One thing I will say, if you're looking at the DD tarps then do consider the coyote, they blend in very well when pitched in trees and that, very discrete. I'd add a couple of pictures (of tarps and tents) but I can't unfortunately.
@FlyingHaggisFilms2 жыл бұрын
That's really helpful Deeps, I'll bear that in mind for tarp. I like to be grounded as well but given the hilly terrain up here and dense commercial forests slinging a sleep system between the trees in thick cover seems rather cool option. Atb Harry.

Harry you might get a little more cover from your existing tarp (length wise) if you use it in a diamond pattern as opposed to square on 👍🏻
@FlyingHaggisFilms2 жыл бұрын
Oh, I forgot about that trick. Thankyou. I must try it.
@GG-im1cb2 жыл бұрын
@@FlyingHaggisFilms just out of interest, what size smock do you wear? I am of similar proportions to yourself 😄 and can’t work out the MOD sizing. Thanks 👍🏻
@FlyingHaggisFilms2 жыл бұрын
@@GG-im1cb I think its an extra large like all my jackets, it is a little tight but loose on arms and hood so fits like a glove which I like for filming purposes. XxL always makes a big guy look ridiculous I feel. .🤣
@neanderthaloutdoors92022 жыл бұрын
High Harry, hammocks are the dog's, the DD double layered and mosquito net hammock can also be used on the ground, I also found that the 4x3 tarp is ideal for all use's, 3x3 not quite so versatile 👌🏻

Thanks Paul, that's just what I was thinking, although, in a conflict or stealth situation, a SAS ground tubed bivi like yours would be the bees and ees. Happy days.Harry

I've not yet tried a hammock with my back and neck injuries, but so many people are swearing by them, I'm just going to have to give it a go. Already have my tarp (10x12ft) set. It seems like all the good kit is scarce of late. I've been waiting three weeks so far for my Snugpak Jungle blanket and keep hearing "any day now". Is that hammock a DD ? Enjoyed your video as always. You'll just have to get hammock for Wallace...
@FlyingHaggisFilms2 жыл бұрын
Yes, a dog sleep system beneath might work for the wee fella. Perhaps a lage hammock would allow you to lay almost flat with a memory pillow and gentle turning on the night fir back? Wishing you well. Harry
@Yorkshiremadmick2 жыл бұрын
Maybe look at the Amok (Camo) hammock that can be a flat lay and used as a chair 👍🏻

Hi Dee the gortex dpm is my favorite price of kit, robust and dry. With a breathable fleece and t shirt as a civillian it's all that is needed. The breathable smock is really for rough and tough military 🪖 activity. Atb. Harry

the more isolated the better ... the extra effort usually pays off. btw ... your tarp would have been large enough in the diamond configuration, I got rid of a next to new 4m by 4m DD tarp a couple of months ago, shame you didnt mention or make this video sooner,

Oh right, ill try the diamond configuration before buying a new tarp.Thanks for the heads up. Cheers. Harry
