Have you tried the ones with 'balls' (if you excuse the expression), you can get them pretty cheap, designed to go through eyelets but I just loop them round the tie outs, you can get them pretty cheap from the usual sources.

@deeps27619 ай бұрын
@@Yorkshireoutdoorsandsurvival Yes mate, ebay, temu etc have them cheap, great for pulling your tarp tight when pegging them in. I kind of ignore the wee balls. They're much smaller than the 'bungies' you mentioned which have their place, especially if its blowy they can give a bit of stretch in a line supporting tarps. Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs.

G'day Harry, it's always interesting to see what other people carry, and in some cases I get inspired to customize my own gear. I agree with the importance of storing things in a specific place so you can reach them blindly. Tfs, CU Hans.

Having spent 24 years in the British army I do appreciate the value of military kit but people should always remember that squadies only use bits and bobs of the kit they are issued, if they have a choice. People need to consider that 'military grade' just means the cheapest that that the government could get that just about does the job. Most soldiers supplement their kit with nicer, lightweight 'gucci' gear. That being said, the NI pack is a nice bit of kit.
@FlyingHaggisFilms10 ай бұрын
Thanks Ian, a fair comment. As a civillian with army connections I too have come to realise the validity of all you say. Personally, whilst aware of the weighty and non practicality of some military kit I do love the robust and durable quality surplus offers. All the very best to you. Harry

all tried and tested kit, ... looks like a good patrol pack for days out, my only advice ... would be to put in a high vis waterproof pack cover, Or a bright dry bag you could use as a signal marker just in case you sustained a leg injury out in the wilds, (or if you encountered anybody needing help and wanted to mark their position for search are rescue)
