My great grandmother played the organ beautifully. She passed away in 1982 and this music makes me think of her. Thank you for making this available for everyone to enjoy.

You're welcome. Your great grandmother and my grandfather (playing the organ here) died the same year.

At the time this was originally recorded I skated at Mineola Skating Rink and Phil was our organist. I met my husband Don there and we skated to Phil's music. When Phil saw us, he'd play a medly of I'm in the Mood for Love and Deep Purple ... the songs we always asked for. We married the year the rink closed and got away from skating for 23 years. Always kept our skates, though. Five kids later, we started skating again and in 1988 actually bought the local roller rink in PA. Amazingly, we were quite successful for 26 years. During those years our favorite rink organist has been Marty Dumic of Mechanicsburg, PA. We sold our rink, the SKATERY in 2014 and eventually retired to Florida. Don passed away nearly 4 years ago, ending the Rink romance of two centuries! If it weren't for Mineola Skating Rink and Phil Reed, I wonder what our lives might have been like???

Roberta! Thank you so much for this touching story. I am Phil's grandson and I will share this with his only surviving child: my mother who lives in Fort Myers, Florida. She will be so thrilled to hear this story. You may have even skated with her 70+ years ago. If you would like I can put you in touch with her. I'm sure she'd be delighted to hear from you. - David (in Ashland, OR)

Went on a Blind Double Date - Roller Skating. That was in 1954. Been married to the same young lady for 67 years now. And I have a Hammond clone.

I've been searching for this kind of music for a few years. Glad you posted it. Love the organ sound. To me, it's pure. No computer gen-loops. :)

My dad got his first Hammond about this time and began playing in the Sharon, Pennsylvania area. Hammond organ music surely has changed and so did dad. He ended his playing on the cruse ships out of San Francisco in the 1980s. He also played at Swirl Arena in Hermitage, Pennsylvania for roller skating.
