Hello, Nick, from the USA! Thanks for this informative and entertaining video! I really appreciate the fact that you took the time to address my personal comments/questions regarding the SkxPRO. It appears that the long wait ("supply chain issues") for my newest Hammond could be just a few weeks, and I'm super excited! I see I'm not the only one who is waiting... Cheers!

There's a slight virtual contact effect on the first preset of the Hammond SK Pro though it doesn't have the same XK-5 keybed. If this effect is done in software instead of hardware on the SK Pro then why doesn't it work via midi from an external keyboard? Hmmmm
@mlseim Жыл бұрын
Nick. I know this video is older, but my SKX Pro now has the vibrato always on with the piano, even though it says that it's off. I did a factory reset and it's still stuck on. Any ideas?

@@nickfoleyuk Thanks for the quick reply! I called Hammond and the "expert" said he once had bumped the modulate wheel. That was it! He fixed my problem! I never use modulate on a piano but the wheel is 'global'. I programmed that wheel to do nothing in case it gets moved again. Wow, I happened to get a guy there that actually knew what my problem was. This keyboard is crazy amazing!

They both sound pretty good to me. If you're too picky about this stuff, it makes you crazy for no advantage. Play better.

I had one of these and I found it to be way to complicated to operate, getting the different screens and menus, getting hung up trying to remember how to get from here to there for what I was trying to do. Sold it! Had a XK5 and it just did not like the sound, sold it. Now have the new Viscount Soul 261 and it sounds great. Use it with foot pedals.

Any tips you can provide connection wise for live sound. Using with the 3300 leslie. Want to mic the leslie, but also have a direct line out to FOH to blend together. Any tips?
@nickfoleyuk2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question and a tricky one. There are a couple of ways to get a unaffected sound out of the organ, with my XK-5 I could use the 11 pin to the Leslie leaving my outputs to go to the desk for example, but for me I use the 11pin for speed switching and go 1/4" in to the Leslie as well so that I can use my Lounsbury Organ Grinder. So we need to split and get a clean signal, which is simple enough. I've seen the NEO Ventilator used to great effect for this. The Leslie for onstage sound and Vent through the FOS. There's a cable that can be bought/made that will control the fast/slow on both the 3300 and Vent I'm told. I think I have one, but have never used it. Blending is interesting, I wonder how it would sound as you would have a moving oscillation as the two fast rotors went in and out of sync. It might sound great, I don't know. For me then, I'd google the speed switching and buy a Vent but I'm not sure I would blend. If you do, please let me know how you get on with it 🙂 Nick

I got the SKXPro in May. It's the first time i play organ and i'm trying to learn how to play it. The problem that i'm having is trying to get a good organ sound. If you have a chance can you teach us the draw bars you use to get different organ sounds.
@nickfoleyuk2 жыл бұрын
Every chance, yes. I no longer have the SKXPro but the effect is much the same on all Hammond. I'd say what sounds right is right but its trial and error basically. We all have our own goto sounds mine would alternate between something like 888854357 and 888854321 for bright and dark sound respectively. A good blues sound can be 880000000 and 888000000 for a light and heavy starter for ten. Some of the lighter sounds, gospel type backing will back off the first two fundamentals 558854356 maybe and then your Deep Purple perfect strangers tone is closer to 88888864 I guess (with Jon Lord basking off that one nearly all the time so its more 86888864). This is a good question for the community, what are your goto settings and why?

Love my skxpro, but I’ve been trying to use it with my leslie 147 and there’s just hardly any volume. I’m using with 1147 connector kit. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if there’s something I need to change in the organ settings. Any tips or info you could share would be greatly appreciated.
@nickfoleyuk Жыл бұрын
Generally no, sounds like you are doing it right. You need to boost the signal then? Any way you can get the tall and fat pedal ina line for some warmth and gain?
@Dmaines85 Жыл бұрын
@@nickfoleyuk the leslie doesn’t have 1/4” line in so I don’t think that’s an option for me here. There’s a slightly used 3300 near me for a good price I think I might jump on that.

Curious: anybody using this with pedal board/expression pedal combo, but wanting a sustain pedal down there too for when you’re doing piano alone? Is there enough room to do that? 🙂

I would buy one. But the internal Leslie is too weak. I don‘t want to carry around a Leslie. I use it at home with my B3. If the the SKX pro would have only organ and no extra voices and a better Leslie Simulation, then I would buy it. The presentations on KZbin are mainly not useful. I would like to hear, that someone would play a whole song, who can play the organ on a hight level. So Viscount does a better job in that direction.
