I loved it too All of it... The fact that James "jus so happens to be in his speciale" for a drag race. The finding of an innovative way to pump gas while driving. The lancia story was amazing cuz at first I thought it was going to be about group b rally cars... It was smooth and informative and the delivery was sublime... Perfect storytelling.

I like old Top Gear better for one simple reason: The Grand Tour focuses on being a car show with three idiots, while Top Gear focused on three idiots doing stuff about cars.

Yes, but The Grand Tour has more emphasis on the cars than the personalities in the cars. For example, one of the reasons old Top Gear did cheap car challenges was because you could pretty much guarantee something would go wrong (without it being felt too scripted). And when something goes wrong, it's entertaining to see the trio try to make it better. Old Top Gear also had plenty of challenges where cars were modified based on the presenter's view, instead of expensive cars borrowed from companies. I'm not saying The Grand Tour doesn't have any of these challenges, I'm just saying that the challenges and adventures that they go on don't feel like they're focused on the trio but on the cars instead. That being said, the mini-special had a much better job at portraying this than the other episodes!
