Immer wenn ein neues Instrument vorgestellt wird, gehe ich auf Bonners KZbin-Seite und erfreue mich an der bewundernswerten Art, wie er die Instrumente vorstellt !!

Just got my A-3, stand is backordered. Sounds amazing, I thought my SKx was amazing, the A-3 is on another level. My vintage Hammond A-102 and matching Leslie 142 will be delivered in January. It's going to be a great year!

I would like for someone to built an experimental Hammond, with tone wheel generated sound, but instead of all of the sounds being cloned (unified) from one set of tone wheels, there would be a separate set of wheels for every draw-bar. This would allow the off unison harmonics to be in tune and not derived. It would also cut out the dead sound spaces created when a key is depressed on a pitch which is already sounding.

Great demo, Tony. I'm actually in the market for one XK-5. And this video makes me really wanna go for it... ;)

Probably better in its way than the “New B3”. When the XK3 was on the market, I fantasized about having the 2 manuals, a sturdy stand (other than the ones Hammond marketed) and the 25-note pedalboard. That fantasy lives on, even if the model has changed. I’ve always been kinda impressed with various Leslie simulators, whether I should be or not. If I wanted (something like) the real thing, I would look for a Motion Sound rotors system with just the rotating horn.

I think the XK-5 dual manual system sounds great from the several KZbin videos I’ve seen, but here in the US to get the dual manual with stand and bench it’s currently $8,995.00! I can get a real B3, C3, or A100 with Leslie 122 and have it midi’d for less than half that for my home studio. My parents bought me a B3 on Hammond Dollies along with a Leslie 800 at the end of the 70’s that I played local clubs with, but in the 80’s I started doing top 40 covers and was able to get by with my Jupiter 80 and DX7 only, so I loaned my B3 rig to a ‘friend’ who became a drug addict .. sold my B3 behind my back .. and moved to Europe 😡 Ouch! So anyway last week I picked up the new Hammond BX3 iPad app and was so taken with it I decided I want at least a waterfall Hammond’ish feeling keyboard to play it with, so I started researching modern Hammonds and came across the XK-5, so I started pricing them and oh my gosh! Nine grand! In the 90’s I worked for Snows piano and organ here in So.Cal. and we couldn’t even GIVE away B3’s lol .. So I hopped on eBay to see what original B/C/A’s are currently selling for, lot of cream puffs available for a lot less than these digital Hammonds, so what’s the justification for paying the high price of these XK5’s versus just getting an original apart from portability? Looking at the setup in this video I’m not sure I’d want to haul it around either, would a midi’d original be a viable alternative for a permanent studio installation?

Hello, where can I obtain the music stand/music desk? I have never seen these for sale. I made one out of metal, which is very nice, however, its a bit heavy. I would prefer the wooden one which looks very nice and much easier to handle. Also, what is the price in US dollars?.

I've always wanted foot switch control in also turning chorus on and off, as well as the Leslie. Can this machine accommodate that?
@richardperkins49593 жыл бұрын
Hey B3 Burner. Just had a check through my manual for the XK5 and looks like it's not possible to turn on chorus/vibrato from the footswitch. Would be a cool feature to have though. Love your videos by the way, especially the deep purple ones! 🤟

I know this organ like the other new Hammond products fill a space, but after playing, owning the original Hammonds all of my life, I just can't think of not using the real thing. I've owned close to 40 Hammond organs and they all have a unique sound unlike the digital equipment. I'm not knocking the new stuff, but you cannot beat the original vintage Hammond organ and Leslie speaker set up.

Thank you for the video. Can you tell me about how heavy the XK5 is and if it is "portable" like the 45lb. Viscont Legend?. Thank you.
@clintjones98483 жыл бұрын
The XK-5 is 35lbs and the XLK-5 is 30 lbs. So the upper and lower paired is 65lbs. It's plenty portable.

Wow if you're gonna buy all the seperate parts it's gonna cost you a fortune!! The seperate Leslie speaker alone is quite expensive already.

I got the XK-5, lower manual, Leslie studio 12, the studiologic mp-113 pedal board, plus a cheap stand, and a free bench and it totaled about 8.5k. I'm so glad I did it tho. I love it and it's the best instrument I've owned. I saved a bit. The A3 package in black with a studio 12 is 12k and in wood it's 13k. If you get the pack without the leslie and add a leslie 122 on the side to make your own ultra delux pack it totals 15k lol! :o

I _HATE_ distortion. It's the failure of equipment to provide the power you want. To some it signifies wanting to try harder, to others it's just bad speakers.

For that setup I can almost buy a C3
@clintjones98483 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if you have the space, you don't need to transport it, and you can find an organ in good condition, that's the better option. Otherwise the XK-5 system is great.

I don't understand why you'd want to use a Leslie simulator when you've got an actual real Leslie sitting right next to the organ.
