It's fantastic to see the old terraces banking so high up. Great to see the old stadium it had a beauty all of it's own it just oozes atmosphere and history even when empty. And I'm an Englishman who supports Aston Villa.

The most incredible football ground ever built. And I'm English. Lucky enough to have seen a Scotland v England game there before they pulled it down and replaced it with the bland and dull medium sized effort of today.

I'm Scottish and agree with you. I loved the old Hampden Park, the atmosphere was amazing. The thing they replaced it with is garbage.

@@DavidUKesb I agree. Wembley is clearly better than Hampden but there's far too many corporate fans at international games and cup finals at Wembley.

Agreed. It's hallowed ground. I live 3 miles from it and when growing up I was always fascinated by its awesome size. Nothing compared. Someone in authority needs to show a bit of imagination and increase the capacity. The north "stand" could be converted into a 2 tier structure like the new south stand. Combine that with safe standing on each end terrace and that could raise the capacity to over 70,000 I think.

@@shunter6147 It upsets me the old ground is no more and I'm English, so goodness knows what the Scots think about it. Mind you, Wembley was ruined too.

My dad went up twice in the 60's for the England games. Both crowds over 130000. He bumped into someone from the street he lived on. It must have been eerie watching Queens Park there.
@DCHurlford12 жыл бұрын
Think it's capacity was stilll about 90,000 then (before it got redeveloped in the early 90s.) It still holds the record for the biggest attendance at a European game (Celtic v Leeds European Cup semi-final 1970 bout 130,000) and used to hold the world record for an international game Scotland v England years before until Brazil's Maracana stadium was built.

Visited old Hamden Park many times in the late 70’s early 80’s as an Ingerlund fan and stood alongside over 120’000 mad jocks before most away fans would dare to travel up.Never had any bother with them probably because never refused a whisky which was offered from the bottle on the terraces.Great days and a nice story for the grandkids . . Not.
@stanmonzon57884 жыл бұрын
Robert Baglin it wouldn’t have been 120,000 at that point, it would have been about 70,000. The 100,000+ crowds stopped in the early 70’s.
