Been following you for a while now, we've had our cocker for just over 5months, our first dog. We thought he was a really lucky pup, massive garden with plenty of bushes/hedgerow etc, woods across the way, fields etc for him to explore. After watching your videos we now realise this was a bad idea showing him that much world so soon. So we've now took a step back and we're back to basics in the back yard. He's still having fun but we're both learning so much everyday. 👍🏼

I have a golden 14 week cocker who I’m trying to train by watching your videos over and over. She’s doing really well with the very basics except the retrieval but we won’t give up. I’m sure one of your fur skin things would really encourage her. Can’t wait for the next video. By the way Charlie is an absolute sweetheart! ❤

It’s so good to see Charlie’s ‘mistakes’ as well as his great behaviour. We have a 15 week cocker we’re hoping to train to become a beating dog and it feels so reassuring to see that we aren’t alone in the hiccups we’re seeing in her, as amateurs trainers. Also great tip about putting a bit of your scent on the retrieve 👍

This is brilliant Chris, I have a cocker pup of similar age and really looking forward to watching Charlie's progress and my own pups progress. My pup is the opposite to Charlie, she's extremely confident and bold, no fear at all. I'm having to watch her and how handle her carefully. I don't want to fudge it up, and I'm sure everyone else on here feels the same with their own pups / dogs. It's so important to try and do things right in the early puppy stages, and not always easy when life can be so busy.

Absolutely brilliant idea to follow puppy progress from start. I watched a lot of yours previous videos and learning every time even tho I am dog trainer myself, but in completely different sphere (sheepdogs). My grandad had Springers and I use to train some pointers in past but in our country it was done for little bit different purposes, lot or work on water. Now after years I got spaniel again (beating will be more fun with dog) and your videos are motivating me and guiding me to improve my crazy bitch and hopefully one day we will get somewhere. Recently we are starting with hunting which is quite challenging because she notice my every movement and so I definitely have to order your light dummies because I suppose they won't make any noise when thrown? I can definitely see the point why they are your favourite as I tried few other options and nothing really worked as good yet . Good luck with everything, wish you were bit closer to Borders for "live lesson"

Hi, new spaniel owner here. Enjoy your straight forward approach to training. One question I have been asking myself is around the way you praise your dog. Hi got a cocker just like Charlie about 3 months ago, he was trained for gun , but it didn't work out with gun for previous owner, so I took him , brilliant dog, but recall sometimes is not especially when he gets scent of something , what do I do to correct it
@hampshirespanieltrainingwi9314
@hampshirespanieltrainingwi9314 2 ай бұрын
Normally the thing I look at with young Dogs is is the correctional work, keeping the dog close right first then I look at the things after that, but most of the people that have stop issues are normally doing things further down the chain incorrectly, so those things normally need looking at first before you can address the other issues a lot of the time, but it would really depend on the dog. I would have to see the Situation 1st to make the correct decision
