How to choose a spaniel puppy?

This video looks at what to look for when buying a working spaniel puppy.
It is imperative that you do a thorough check into the background of the dog that you are looking to buy.
I have spoken about the kennel club rules being there to protect the dogs that are being bred from, but it's more than possible to get a fantastic dog without it being kennel club registered!- but as I relay in the video you do need to be careful that the mating is being done for the correct reasons.
Getting a mixed breed dog can still be a fantastic dog to work with so please don't rule this out.
The second part of this video I talk about the indications to look for when trying to get the best puppy you can from a litter.

I've two springers both completely different characters. First lively show off from the choice, easy to train. Second was the shy one of his pack, just peeked at you before hiding away. He drew me in, got him home and he hid in the corners. Two years on and he's a great dog - the differing character of each is a great fit. My belief is spend time with them and you get out what you put in.

Great insight I’ve trained ( with my mom) dobermans ,Alsatian’s , Labradors over my life ( 58 yrs ) , so we now have a Kc reg cocker spaniel working dog , 10 weeks old , it responds well to fetch and release already, amazing puppy but as ever just because I have trained dogs to a good standard doesn’t mean I know the lot 🤪🤪🤪I stumbled on your channel while looking for tips for training , it’s great viewing and has helped me already in what I need to do to prepare for the enjoyment and training of this breed and the dog to enjoy itself and what I need to do realistically to get the obedience from the dog , it is a family pet but as you know it can be both working dog as well , thank you and what a great Chanel , keep it up ☝️☝️🙏👍

This is such a valuable video, I found this extremely useful when I was looking for a pup and what to look for and the kc info. I am a new dog owner and didn’t know anything about kennel club and all the information kc provide.

I have all the puppies lined up a put a bowl of food down. I don’t pick the first or last to eat. Usually the best for me is in the middle.

1st thing you have to think is what do you want the dog for? Beating’ picking up’ trailing/ tests rough shooting a pet then that will help what lines do you look at. There’s no point driving a rolls Royce to delver the milk meaning there’s no point having a super charged spaniel as a beating dog or pet that type of dog would be best going to a trailer. And so on

I visited some today. Do I pick the chunky more chilled out one or the smaller brown one who’s more excited and wanted to chew it’s toys more , does the chewing indicate better retrieve or just a little shit
