This is my amazing experience to one to the most beautiful monsoon treks in India - The Hampta Pass Trek.
At 14,100 feet, Hampta Pass in Himachal Pradesh falls under those rare, dramatic pass crossings in the Himalayas. On one side is the lush green valley of Kullu - with forests, grasslands, and flowers blooming on the side of your trail. On the other is the almost arid, stark landscape of Lahaul, with barren mountains and almost no vegetation.
Standing on the top of the pass, what’s ahead and behind are two different worlds. It changes in a matter of minutes.
Simply put, the Hampta Pass is Himachal’s Valley of Flowers. The landscape is strikingly similar to that of Valley of Flowers - a green narrow valley protected by snow-covered mountains - but there’s an added bonus here.
When you get onto the other side of the Hampta Pass, you’ll be in awe looking at the stark contrast from what you just left behind. The landscape that stretches in front of you is Spiti Valley, known for its barren stretches, rugged terrain and forget-me-not blue skies.
What makes the dramatic changes heightened, even more, is how thrilling the climb to Hampta Pass is. For trekkers, crossing the Hampta Pass (even without the scenery changes) is a great story of adventure. They will love the nervous excitement of climbing to the pass over many ledges, almost appearing to get to the pass, but never really sure until you get there.

We are going on this trek on aug 15. How's the route from Chandigarh to Manali ? Is it safe to travel now due to landslides and rain ? Also is it crowded ?

The route from Chandigarh to Manali is just fine. I don't think you'll have any problem there. See, there is always the risk of landslide in Himachal in monsoon. But the Chandigarh Manali is well maintained highway, so the authorities do take proper care of the landslide prone parts of it. So, I think it should be okay. Once you reach Manali, and start the trek, landslides would be out of the picture for you. Hampta Pass trek would not be much crowded. You can expect maximum of 2-3 other groups trekking with you. But Manali is for sure crowded. Try to avoid Mall road and other places. Stay Safe and enjoy the Trek 😊🍻

Hello. As per my experience, the quality of the equipment was quite good. The red waterproof jacket that I've wore in the video is rented from TTH only. So, yes, you can surely rent sticks bag and shoes from them. It should not be an issue.

Yes carry all the things that you mentioned. There will be no electricity anywhere during the entire trek. They'll provide you hot water for drinking.

You can do it without a guide. Many people go for solo travelling there. But I'm not sure how convenient would it be. I would still prefer going with a guide, since monsoon is a tricky time in the Himalayas, so it's better to have someone experienced around if anything happens while on the way.

Hello Sazra! So, the weather in May would be a bit different, you wouldn't see such green trails, it'll still be somewhat brown, and there will be less rainfall as compared to my vlog, that was from July end. And I carried 3 powerbanks to charge my camera and phone, shot everything mostly on camera ( GoPro in my case), so usage of phone was quite less

The best time to visit Hampta Pass is July and August. But September is also good, with some residual rains and the valley is completely green and colourful. October is the last you can visit. I'd say a no for November because the snow starts to come in, and this trek is specifically meant for it's monsoon experience! So, try to visit it in September. Have a nice trek 😊

Both are beautiful treks in their own way. Hampta Pass is more greenary filled trek with glaciers at the summit and in Kedarkantha it'll all be fresh snow and that amazing sunrise. It is not simpler than Hampta, it is on the same level, it's just that the conditions are a bit harsh with temp less than -15° on the summit day at 3am. Go for it buddy, you'll have a once in a lifetime experience!!

Guys, keep in mind that the road from manali to hampta pass trek starting location is so dangerous. There is also a notice saying Himachal pradesh is not responsible if you get killed. The road is thin, steep, lot of turns and has lot of cracks in it. So travel responsibly!!

Thanks 😊🙏🏻 So, precautions would just be to follow the instructions given by the instructors, just make yourself ready for the trek, make sure you walk/run around 5 kms daily atleast 15 days before the trek. And about the washrooms, so there should be a toilet tent with a composting toilet, and that's the only choice
