Hampton Man Wins $1,000 A Week For Life!

Grover Carter of Hampton was alone when he discovered he'd won the top prize in the Virginia Lottery's Win for Life game.
"I looked at the ticket for about 30 minutes," he told Lottery officials. "Then I decided to call my wife."
Mr. Carter matched the first six numbers in the June 9 Win for Life drawing to win $1,000 per week for the rest of his life. He bought the winning ticket at Rennies, 2200 West Mercury Boulevard in Hampton.
On June 13, he returned to the store to receive the first in a lifetime of checks from Virginia Lottery officials. The store received $10,000 from the Virginia Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
The winning numbers for that drawing were 13-22-26-30-31-42 and the Free Ball number was 20. He selected the numbers on ticket using family birthdays.
And how does it feel to win?
"It feels great," he said. "It gives me a little spring in my step!"

Ive made more than a $1000 a week but $1000 matters in what kind of system. If its in a w-2 its really not $1000 by the time they take away taxes. $1000 in a 1099 is really $1000.

I think the idea of someone winning a Win For Life scratch-off ticket is nefarious and dangerous. It opens the door to people who work at in State Lottery to want that person dead, to not live for many more years, so they could therefore eliminate them and make it look like an accident. If this man was in his early 20s, I bet they would be really mad since everyone knows young people are more likely to live longer than people that are currently older than them. They're probably glad he's as old as he is since they're thinking they probably won't have to keep paying him for many more years.

Perhaps it is because older people have paid their dues in life and fate is cutting them a break; or maybe it's just pure luck.
