I've bought this little cheap gem and I must say that I'm blown away by how it performed during an outdoor evening SW listening session. It outperformed my much more expensive DSP radios in the lower frequency bands and it did as good on others. All this with its not so long whip antenna. Also, I like the clearer, more natural sound it produces. This is what analog radios give you. And it has this fancy look, especially in blue. I really like my R-911!

I used to have one of these. Picked up all kinds of stations while in my backyard in Las Vegas--even with all the electrical interference from the city. I just used it with the telescopic antenna. MW DXing was lots of fun at night too!

I have the Kaito version of this that I bought way back in 2015. It's a great little radio, though it drifts a bit. Pairing it with the Kaito T-1 antenna works very nicely! Great video, Tom!

The R-911/ WRX-911 are still being sold currently. The Kaito version is for North America [ MW, and FM bands are a little different]. The Tecsun, being for the International market. I’ve had a couple of these Kaitos, and gave a couple away, as well. These are non-DSP, Analogue radios. And reception is quite good. Is Similar to, but different than the R-9012. It is very closely related to the Tecsun R-9710. I have picked up quite a bit, just off the whip, but add a wire, and these do very well - without overloading. I’ve not had any issues with FM breakthrough at all, an no issues with Drifting, except on an older one. No drift on new ones that I’ve noticed. And fairly precise tuning for its size. It actually edges out my R-9012, by a noticeable little bit. 📻🙂

The Tecsun R-9710 [ same size and cabinet] comes in a “ light salmon “ color. The size is perfect for pocket, glove box, or stocking stuffers for Christmas, or , since these are inexpensive, a great gift for those interested in getting into Short Wave listening. Thanks for watching. 📻🙂

I have the Tecsun R9012. They`re really good and dirt cheap with long battery life. FM is no good but they`re nice nighttime AM and shortwave true analog receivers. If someone wants to listen to Alex Jones on shortwave this is the inexpensive way to do it. He`s on each weeknight starting at 10pm eastern time on frequency 4.840. It`s a good radio to use with headphones for nighttime AM DXing if you get away from electronic interference. Has a nice sound. Does great with an inductive loop at night.
@jeffking41762 жыл бұрын
I’ve not thought of trying a Loop antenna with it. I will definitely do that. I do listen to SW on it [ especially the Oldies on WTWW], but I’ll pass on Alex Jones. [ my aluminum foil hat wore out 😁]. These little Tecsun radios are surprising for the price. Thanks for watching. 📻🙂

@@jeffking4176 Try a direct connection with the AN-200 loop with the Tecsun PL-330. I swear, at least in this house, it beats the CCrane EP PRO and Sangean PR-D4W. I need to get away from electronics and test it. I made a 16 inch inductive loop and one about 4 feet from a solar panel box. Can`t wait to test those. Finally moving in a few days from this nightmare house packed with giant TVs to a place where I can control the RFI.

@@jeffking4176 I`ve found that mentioning Alex Jones is a good way to get some people to buy a shortwave radio. If an international emergency happens these radios may save lives so I do what I can to get them in the hands of the public. If it was a good bank robbery radio I`d promote it for that. LOL!

This resembles a Philips AE3350 radio. Mine is labelled "Made in China, designed by Philips", Europe. It has a badly designed POWER ON..OFF switch that never truly disconnects the batteries. Instead they are continually drained and have a shortened life, even if the radio is never used.
@jeffking41762 жыл бұрын
I had to look up the Philips radio. It looks nice. Sad about that on/off switch. These smaller radios were quite popular. Sony SW-10, and a couple of Sanyos . Though these Tecsuns are a bit smaller. Thanks for watching. 📻🙂
