Thank you for this. I've just taken delivery of the DE29 version and am very disappointed with the high level of local FM station breakthrough while listening to SW. FM and AM , in particular is good.
@hamrad886 жыл бұрын
Chinese quality control is poor so the performance will vary a lot from radio to radio. I always suggest that if you purchase a Chinese radio. get it from someplace it is easy to return or replace.

Thanks Tom, I took the DE29 to a rural location in Perthshire. It really came alive on AM at night. I as able to monitor the TWR Armenian tx on 1377khz using its ferrite aerial.. Because the location was far away from any local AM TX's , there was no breakthrough on SW and I was able to monitor such stations as Iran in English on 49mb and several pirates. I was stunned to get The Voice of Mongolia in English but on checking it was from the 1kw Kalt, Germany relay. I would rate this RX as being midway between the Tivdio V115 (lowest) and the hyperactive PL-310et (highest). My main problem with this radio is the intrusive ticking noise that others have noted. I much prefer its DE1103 (non dsp) stablemate.

I just came across this while browsing Kaito radios. The photos in the Walmart listing didn't show the SD/TF card reader on the bottom. Your review showed it (thanks). Its display and keypad features are very similar to the Retekess HR-11S I just got. However the Retekess has a different appearance. The ka29 doesn't appear to have Bluetooth. Otherwise it looks pretty good for the price.

Hello, Tom, as I enjoyed your tutorial video here in reference to the Kaito KA29 Multi-Function Radio! This is a very good radio loaded with various features and it is extremely well priced! I am seriously considering purchasing this radio! How does it perform on the shortwave bands? I am assuming that the Kaito KA29 is more sensitive on the SW bands vs. the Retekess V115? What was been your observation, Tom, regarding its SW reception! Please advise. Thank you, Tom...
@hamrad882 жыл бұрын
They are very close in performance on the shortwave bands. If I HAD to choose, I think I would choose the V115 but either is good.

@@hamrad88 thanks, Tom, as I have the Retekess V115 already, but I just might have to purchase the Kaito KA29!

Tom, It looks like the KA29 is about the same size as the newer Eton Traveler III. It looks like the Kaito has more features. I am wondering how performance between the two stacks up on SW?

+W5MRM I plan on comparing it to several radios in this price range.

I think this is the Retkess V115 but upgraded and with a much needed tuning knob... Do you still have it? If yes, is it still intact? I am Pretending to get it. Is it good on AM and SW? Thanks!

Good evening, I understand that the Tecsun Q3 has the capability of automatically saving a recorded file in one hour segments. Do you know of other recorders that also have that feature? I own the Sangean DAR-101 and the PR-D8, both can save one hour files. Is there anything in Tecsun, Kaito, Degen, Retekess or others that can do this? I like to record one to three hour talk shows that I would like to save in one hour files. If the recorder had an AM and or FM radio, that would be even better. Line in is a must have. Does the Kaito ka-29 or the Degen de-28 have that feature? Thanks! Darwin :)
@hamrad884 жыл бұрын
There are a ton of radios that record now. The KA-29 is one of them. I have tested a number of different ones that do. Check my shows. Have a great day.

Thanks for your reply Tom. Yes, there are several radios that can record however, my question is, are there any that automatically save in one hour file segments? The ones that I know of are Tecsun Q3, Sangean dar-101 and pr-d8. My question is, does the kaito ka-29 have this capability or not? Thanks again, Darwin
