I own the Tecsun PL380 and the PL310ET, I think the PL310ET sounds better on speaker and headphones than the PL380 and picks up more. The PL380 has a slightly larger display, The PL310ET gets an external antenna socket and the speaker itself is slightly bigger. I also own the Sangean 909X which sounds great through speaker and headphone. Build quality is superb with a fantastic display. However I find the Tecsun's far more user friendly with the intelligent back light which has every mode possible and a sleep timer that remembers its last setting every time you turn on the radio. The Tecsun bandwidth filters are also more useful than the Wide/Narrow filters of the Sangean. I love your channel, keep up the good work!

I get the ghosting when I use a good external antenna. the rejection on this particular radio isn't the best with a good antenna

I have three Tecsun radios with DSP feature, a PL-380, a PL-360 and a PL-505. Of these, the PL-380 seems to have the best reception and I feel its DSP feature works better. I already ordered a PL-310ET because I noticed after many reviews it is very similar to the PL-380. I also noticed that receivers with DSP are much more susceptible to QRM such as FM spurious and AM intermode. I read a review of a DEGEN DE1103 with DSP (v 2.0) where the reviewer gets really disappointed due to high intermode QRM, whereas it has none with the DEGEN v1.0 (no DSP). I also noticed there's a threshold where DSP engages which may vary according to sensitivity and the model. That is why it has such low audio when the signal is weak, and quite the opposite when that threshold is surpassed. Another thing I noticed is that, if you go offtune, audio drops considerably, I guess due to DSP working better at the centre of the tuning. And finally, its choice of bandwidth filters is great and the narrower the better for DSP to work better. The PL-380 and also the PL-505 bandwidth filter feature can only be matched by my Icom R75! My other receivers only have the wide-narrow switch or none at all. Thanks for posting! 73

Do the ETM scan. it works great for a quick scan and it stores them in a temporary memory. it scans the whole broadcast band as well.

Only problem I have with this model radio is the Heavy AGC action on stronger stations. Its very annoying.

Recently my grandkids decided to throw my Tecsun pl-310 ET in the toilet. I bought a Tecsun pl-380 to replace it. I'm sending it back and getting another Tecsun pl-310 ET. I perfere the tuning knob over the tuning wheel, also I get better results with the external antenna jack than a clip on wire on the antenna. Also the 310ET is more sensitive, and the speaker sounds better on the 310ET than the 380. The Tecsun pl-310 ET is definitely a nice radio for the price
