Great video as always- thank you for what you do. Spot-on comment reference "Who cares about spurious signals?" I'm recently retired ATC. I can't tell you the number of times we'd get complaints of interference in the 290 mHz area when talking to a military acft or even worse couldn't talk to them because of interference. My answer to the "who cares?" would be ">>You

I recently discovered the Radtel 470-X, and now I have a pair of them. They have many nice features, a very good reciever, with a clear transmitter. The large color screen is very easy to see at night or while indoors, BUT almost disappears in bright sunlight or when wearing polarized sunglasses! The GOTO Weather Channel are very nice too! Just a push of a programmable button! The frequency & PL Tone scanner & capture feature is very handy! If it were waterproof, it might become my new favorite!

Also if you get this radio and probably any Radtel there are 2 screen protectors on them. The big one that is obvious and you will notice the screen will scratch easily after removing it because there is another one that fits the screen perfectly but it will peel off if you start at the corner and reveals a very nice glossy screen.

They should be saying the 70 centimeter band. This is how bad habits develop and passed on to others. I know, here come the sad ham comments! 😩

I came across your channel as a person with zero radio experience while looking into purchasing a Rapid Radio to communicate with my family. Recently during hurricane Beryl, cell phone communication was not possible. Not having contact with my family was worse than being without power in July Texas heat. Could you recommend a radio that can be used in the future? I live in Galveston and have family in Missouri City, Houston, and Livingston that I need to be able to contact in the case of a similar situation in the future. Will you please provide a radio recommendation? I was about to be scammed prior to watching your video about the $70 radio on Rapid Radio. I’ve watched several of your videos before commenting and it is clear to me that you are an expert. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

I sure like Radtel products! One thing though and maybe Ham Radio 2.0 can advise their design engineers is that they are putting a lot of unusable spectrum on these radios. 500-650 MHz is worthless in the US as that is where Digital Television lays. These Chinese radios are starting to offer voice coverage into that range. Additionally, They are giving us 250-350 MHz but in FM. That are should be AM as its used by Military Aviation. Go look at FWJRB or US Armed Forces on radioreference, They are primarily using 225-380 MHz in AM. If we could get these guys to correct that, I'd bet Radtel would become the new Baofeng!

I agree with the this guy, can't do anything about people talking on these radios. I have two Baofengs but I won't talk on them. Someone gave them to me. One thing I don't like about almost all inexpensive Chinese rigs is they don't have an ext. DC jack, or DC in as Kenwood calls it. This is critical for me as I can plug in a cig adaptor in my car and keep from draining the radio battery. Also I have a AGM 12 volt battery (size of a motorcycle battery) and I can plug in a barrel adaptor from the battery into my any of my traditional radios to power them in an emergency or whatever. Can't do that with most, if not all of the Chinese radios.

For me that's both good and bad. I want to see 1.25m more used and more repeaters but only up to a point. I do not want to see it become as popular as 2m and 70cm. Because they quietness of 1.25m is really cool but yeah, it's too quiet. So I hope to see a middle ground where it doesn't become like 2m and 70cm but more used than it is now.
@johncrilly312713 күн бұрын
The fourth (really the first) reason to use a clean radio is that Part 97 forbids the use of radios that exceed permitted spurious emission levels, which that radio obviously does. It can not be legally operated on 2 meters or 70cm..
