I replaced the battery holder with a drone 14.4v LiPo battery and also put a plug on the rear for charging. I never have to buy batteries again and it holds a charge for at least 1 year with minimal usage. But I have used it for 1 year and still haven't recharged it yet. So yes it can be done however you must use the proper charger when recharging it.

I have the MFJ 269C and love it. I don't have auto tuner. I use the roller inductor tuner. I tune my tuner to flat match 50 ohm without transmitting. also I done input tune on tube amps without power up on high voltage. I have LFP batteries in mine. got them from eBay and are 3.2V AA batteries and use dummy batteries spacers. wish I could recharge without removing batteries. I used NiMh AA batteries as well .I think 3.2V 700 Mah cells. got them in AAA also and come with dummy cell. 1 battery 1 dummy for each 2. I also have 14500 AA 3.7V protected Li-Ion cells. 73's

What is the connector in the plastic bag laying on the bench to the right of the box? I got my 259D at the Dalton Hamfest today and can't find anything in the manual that mentions it (yes, it was a quick skim through the pages w/a search for several keywords).

Eric, Stay with a LiFe battery, especially the Bioenno, they have built in low voltage protection. Most LiPo batteries do not have protection built in for low voltage shut down.

I watched the video. I noticed the harbor freight freebies on batteries. If wrong correct, please. My question is that low band that you were talking about. Was it the two twenty-two band. the reason for the ? is that I have a beam in the garage. It is really a long and actually a small beam. I have to know the way to connect the coax to it. Just curious if I could use a balun to connect it.? they say Amature. well, I am that when it comes to this I am.

I also have an older mfj antenna analyzer. what I really like best is my return loss bridge with my IFR 1200S service monitor. put it in tracking generate mode and hook it up to the return loss bridge. you get a freq-loss display so you know whats going on with what ever antenna you are testing

You are not a moron for tuning your antennas rather than rely on a tuner. Much more efficient to have antennas resonant!

Bent Tree ask all the people that hate me. Previous videos I mentioned that using a tuner on a stop sign for 80 meters does not mean the antenna is resonant at 80 meters it’s just tricking the radio. But apparently I need to go read a book they said it is actually tuning the stop sign to resonance on 80 meters. No need to buy an efficient antenna they said, just lay a wire on the ground and use a tuner for best results HAHAHAHA

@@HamRadioConcepts The reason I would just use a tuner rather than build a perfectly resonant antenna is ignorance...I am not one of those to pretend to expertise I do not possess. I am studying everything I can find to discover some insight into antenna design that apparently will continue to elude me. A antenna wire that has a flat SWR on one occasion will have different properties when employed in a different location. This, of course, may well be different for those with fixed antenna installations. Meanwhile, the market is flooded with builders and reviewers who are claiming their antennas really do possess "The secret sauce." Look at the videos being offered by some of these channel operators for examples to illustrate my point. These guys are willing to say damn near anything and claim it to be true....I am not going to point a finger in any particular direction. You can do that if you like. Not interested in "Going there?" No one else will either and that's why the disinformation is still influencing the operating methods of the ignorant. People like me..... Best regards.... bob, KF7ZSA

@@HamRadioConcepts MY APOLOGIES! Apparently I failed to properly compose my remarks....I am well aware that you are in a difficult position walking the line between publishing content your viewers would find interesting and bringing THE WRATH OF KZbin down on your head. The question I was attempting to shine a light on is: Why do we persist in things like attempting to tune stop signs? How do we evaluate our information? If I could do a better job of producing content for a KZbin channel, I would be doing so and not pestering others so much....What you do is interesting and appreciated. I have a tendency to be harsh. But, if you read my comment from a slightly different perspective, it may be more clear. Thanks for your interest in my remarks and, again, I apologize for my lack of clarity....

@@bobsullivan5714 I think I understand now.. Well, I guess my frustration comes from my efforts and attempts being wasted or shit on by others.. What I mean is, it takes a lot of time every day and a lot of ignoring my family to come home from work and make videos to hopefully motivate people and educate them somewhat. I know I dont know everything there is and i NEVER said that ever not once.. But thank you for watching and commenting. I just try to help and show people that a resonant antenna will be their best bet for making contacts and by using a tuner and ignoring the lessons on how to build and tune and antenna to resonance is dumbing down the hobby, when they should be putting up a wire antenna they build and tuned themselves, or if purchasing an expensive antenna commercially they should buy an antenna that has multiple resonant bands instead of thinking a G5RV is a magic antenna that tunes on all bands but in fact its only resonant in a certain band but not so efficient every where else, hence they complain about the bands being dead or cant make any contacts... I can go on and on but nobody wants to hear it.. A tuner is the first thing every new ham wants to buy when they first get their radio, it would be better to buy an analyzer and make an antenna, feed the brain with knowledge to learn more... but they are told "buy a new radio, buy a tuner and throw a wire on the roof thats all there is to it"
