Another day, another intake into my rescue. Today's story is all about Ash and how we were contacted by the person surrendering him, to take him in. Lol I tried to encourage a tiny weasel type animal across a street once (why do they love the middle of the road so much!) and it hissed at me. I'm a thousand times bigger than it and it immediately thinks "COME AT ME BRO, I WILL MESS YOU UP!" Would've been really funny to get on video. It was doing the back arch and hop that kittens do sometimes when startled.

A few days ago, my aunt's friend found a black syrian hamster with white paws, jaw, and belly in a tiny cage on the side of the road. His new name is Jasper and he lives with me in a 650 square inch DIY cage, and I'm planning on making an even bigger cage based off of Erinsanimals "test tube" cage for him because he is a big boy! I love Jasper, he's my first Syrian ham and by far my tamest hamster ever! He is fine with being held and hand-fed treats, he's so sweet! His fur seems longer than a normal short haired Syrian, and it's silky soft! I love your channel and it inspired my to take him in. I also foster dogs, puppies and kittens.

Someone here found baby Syrian hamsters on the side of the road in a box. Unfortunately they all had wet tail, but one of them was able to survive. I adopted her out to a very lovely family with respectful children (all older and know how to properly handle a hamster). She now lives in an 80 gallon tank and her family says she's the best hamster they've ever owned.

I'm actually a bird owner, I'm not sure how I keep getting your videos but I'm totally a subscriber now. Been watching for a while tho. Bird and Hamsters are pretty similar in the situations they get put in. Cages too small, people don't realise how much work they are, they don't get fed a proper diet or get given correct toys.... I understand a lot of what you talk about and I feel sorry for the little fluffy guys!! You're doing a fantastic job!

I personally feel that sharing these hamsters’ stories, although sad, is beneficial in educating the public and inspiring others to rescue animals in need. I know hearing some of your rescue stories has convinced me to adopt/rescue a hamster in need the next time we decide to add a new addition to our family. He looks very similar to my little Sophie ❤️ she is a hybrid and is rescued from an accidental litter where she was living in a 5 gallon tank with siblings, very little bedding, one water bottle, and lab blocks. No enrichment at all, but now she is in a 40 gallon tank with plenty of stuff to do.

Ash is so beautiful! If I lived in your area I would ask you about adoption. I do a form of rescue myself but I keep everyone I rescue. The most I ever have at once is five. I also use the Prevue 528 cage but have had great results with dwarfs in the Ferplast cages you hate. I have one Ferplast, three Prevues, and several DIY bin cages. Please keep us updated with this little beauty!

Awh, so I assume the hamster was not found in a box but has a nice home that could not keep him. I had that happen to my neighbor. He knew I had Budgies and he put it outside loose with the wings clipped and knocked on my door and asked if it was mine and if not can I help the Budgie. I took the budgie in and the next day he came knocking on my door telling me it was his.

That's what we suspect happened with Ash here as some of the little kids expressed how their hamster is leaving and the tone started shifting in our talks about him as they began talking more. So I knew it was just a cover-up and they were going through hard times. So they did the right thing by contacting us. 🐾

It sounded like he was drinking out of his water bottle! Jumbo must’ve really been chewing on that towel roll. Ohoh!! Speaking of guinea pigs, you possibly could remember, my guinea pig wouldn’t chew on anything. I tried for a year buying all sorts of toys and changing them up but she was never interested. So for about two years she would just chew on her hay and cardboard huts. I finally gave it a try and YES, she’s been chewing on paper and a woven grass ball. Maybe she just needed that one last try haha, but finally I got her toys she likes. Funny I’ve tried those two materials but I guess this different shape, size and presentation caught her eye.

I just got a new hamster and her name is Dawn! She is a black Syrian and she is really sweet! She took a treat from me the first time I offered! And now I can’t wait until I will be able to hold her! I will go slow, but I just can’t wait!! Dawn was a hamster at petco but got pregnant because there was a not sturdy boundary between her and a male and yeah.. but petco (and the lady stated this just like this) feels that pregnant hamsters that have given birth are “unwanted goods.” So the hamster had the babies but she herself could not be sold. But, I adopted her! So yeah! That’s Dawn’s story XD

I have a bird feeder in my garden and the birds are messy eaters and there is lots of food on the floor and on that ‘floor’ is soil, plants and flowers and we found to mice eating it I thought it was cute but my parents didn’t now we have to make sure we lock our doors all times 😂🤦🏿‍♀️🐭

What rly irks me ab pet stores is how they store more than one female gerbal or hammy in the same cage. Just the other day I walked into petco hoping to buy some hamster food. As usual I walked over to the live pets just for shit and giggles. I noticed that two herbals had been fighting eachother to the death. One had a rly swolen eye and scratches all over it’s body. I reported this to the manager and all he said was “oopsie” shrugged and walked away. I went from employee to employee but each one just told me to get the manager. Eventually I found an employee who had listened to wat I was saying. He separated all hamsters and gerbals.

Omg I’m so sad! I walked into Pets At Home (an English pet shop) and I was there because I got some money for my birthday and so I decided to treat my hamster. When I was in there I decided to have a little look at the hamsters, when I got there I couldn’t find them because there wasn’t any cages big enough so I guessed they were somewhere else. Then I walked down the isle and O saw this little face poking at the glass of a 5 GALLON tank. And it was a tell tank, not even a long. I’m so upset by this. My hamster is currently in a medium size cage which is 360 square inches and I’m currently saving my pocket money up to get an Alaska cage.

petfinder.com, offerup.com and dont forget to check your local shelter/rescues website as many dont use petfinder to share their animals. ALSO petco/petsmart have their adoption programs. Call and ask if they have any in their program for adoption (Also mention you are looking for animals who are not on the sales floor but are in need of a home). Many ppl have been confused in the past by sale floor animals vs their adoption program animals. So it's always good to double check. Good luck.

Hi Munchie! Just got my Hamster and I’m really hoping you’ll see this and help me out. I started feeding my hamster the Padovan Wellness food for Hamsters which is almost entirely 90% Pellet and the hamster seems to only be eating the things OTHER THAN the PELLETS. Seeing that there is almost no variety, I started looking into getting another brand. But because I don’t live where there is an abundance of Hamster brands being sold, I am only left with three available choices which are Hartz Bonanza, Vitakraft Premium Menu Vital, and Vitakraft Life Power. Can you or anyone in this comment section probably give a take on which from the three I should get? And please don’t say “Just get the Higgins Sunburst” trust me I would but they don’t sell them here in Indonesia, in fact almost all the recommended brands of food I have researched online isn’t so I’m stuck with only three of these products. Help anyone???

My dwarf hamster is in a 20 gallon right now. I went through a lot of cages with my Syrian hamster and can't afford another tank. I can't make a bin cage either. Can't make things with my hands. How long can she stay in there for?
