And that is a new line for Petsmart... Why won't Petsmart sell the Sterilite 200 quart bin with an installed steel mesh lid so no one would have to DIY the lid? These toy and awful tiny cages suck!

Lenny is precious, I just adore robos! I felt like dying when you said the last owner let the cats pick up the hamster. 😫 Why is it so hard for some people to understand that you shouldn't let your predator pets play with your prey pets. It was so good to see you so happy to have a rescue hammy again, I felt the happiness through the screen. ☺❤

You asked 'where the person got the information to have pee pads in the enclosure" and to that I will say, probably Amazon! I saw that a lot of times when I was looking for decent hamster supplies and accessories.

We used to keep pet mice years ago, but stopped after one of our cats almost successfully broke into their enclosure. We also didn't think to do research beyond what the pet shop told us, so we didn't know as much as we do now, I feel awful every time I see something we did that was wrong in small rodent pet videos, but we know better now thanks to channels like this.

Of course the cats were interested in the hamster cage. It’s a small enclosed space and pee pads often contain an attractant. 🥲🤦‍♂️

You are certainly correct about how a rescue may not be able to provide the adequate preferred caging size but it's really cool that you included the information for USA and Canada. Thanks for the vid. Looking forward to the next. I may not have hamsters right now but if I do down the road, I will atl east have adequate to proper knowledge thanks to you.

While larger is better, I think it would be better to enforce the Pet stores to sell properly sized cages than recommending increasing the size from 450 to 600 square inches... Recommending isn't enough, we need to ban undersized cages first...

@@ronclark9724 yes I surely do agree with that but until that happens it's important for people to know the proper sized caging needed for any animal that's considered a caged animal.

It's so horrible when rodents are allowed to interact with predators, it's just so incredibly dangerous, I feel so bad for them 😔 I had someone recently say "my gerbil is fine by himself, because he's got my dog as a friend" 😥

I no longer have small animals since I lost my first and only hamster back in July 2021. Now I keep reptiles, but I SO love your channel and all that you do to advocate for pocket pets/exotics/small animals! Will always be a supporter of this channel!

Unfortunately it seems that owning animals seems to bring out the stupid in people. It is so sad and I hate that it makes me think horrible thoughts about these people who have no ideal how to care for different critters. Guess I will chaulk it up to ignorance on their part. Ugg makes me sick. Thank you Munchie for all you do.

Especially when proper hamster care information is so easily available on the internet today. When I got my first hamster more than forty years ago this information could only be found from 1950s library books which implied 140 square inches was suitable for a Syrian hamster, literally a shoebox. Furthermore that library book recommended cedar or pine shavings! We come a long way since the dark ages for hamster care.

I have that exact cage, I only bought it when I got my first hamster Ash. He was a baby when I adopted him from Pet Smart. They had someone bring in a mom Robo and her babies, in Ohio the pet stores I live near have only one set gender of small animals. Idk if they are all like that around. But the ones near me only carry one gender in the whole store. But I adopted him and he was so tiny, I decided to get that cage cause the bar spacing was good, so he wouldn’t have the chance of escaping. Now he’s bigger so once I get paid I’m gonna be getting him a bigger inclosure ASAP. I spot clean it every other day cause I can’t stand the ammonia smell, plus it’s dangerous for them as well and I do care about my pets. But I’m so excited to be upgrading his cage soon.

Awww lil Lenny is so adorable. My robo, Beep passed away in December and I miss having a little teeny ham around (,: I recently adopted a Syrian from a Craigslist rehoming ad and I have to say I’ve been incredibly anxious about him being sick or something. Not sure why, I’ve owned many hamsters over the years and he has no signs of illness. Anywho I love your content & personality!! Going to start commenting more ❤

It’s so annoying when I honestly just do the bare minimum for my pets but my parents think I go over bored and only need to do what this lady did to provide for a hamster. To some people these guys are no different then a bug. Nah, I even treat my pet mantis better then this lady treated her hamster. I think to most people they’re “just a hamster” and don’t think they need to care about it’s well being. They think as long as they give it food and water they’re doing all they need to.
