Instead of using electricity to spin a motor, we'll spin a motor to generate electricity to charge a phone!
Parts for this build:
The main thing is the motor, the one I used it this one:

Other than that, the only things you really need are:
PVC pipe (or anything else you can use as a crank)
LM317
a car phone charger
a few electrical components (I used a 220 & 680 ohm resistor, and a 1uF & 10uF capacitor)

Why don't you just hook the motor directly to the car USB charger and charge that way. The charger has all the required circuitry built-in to make 5 volts and all you do is connect two wires.

The main thing is the motor, the one I used it this one: www.servocity.com/165-rpm-hd-premium-planetary-gear-motor www.servocity.com/770-set-screw-hubs Other than that, the only things you really need are PVC pipe (or anything else you can use as a crank) the LM317, a car phone charger, and a few electrical components. I used a 220 ohm and 680 ohm resistor, and a 1uF and 10uF capacitor.

Using a linear voltage regulator with a dc motor like this is not efficient and will cause low current output cuz the regulator dissipates most of it as heat. It will be ideal if you use a buck converter cuz with those, there is far less energy loss regulating the voltage while keeping the output current close to the input current generated from the motor cuz the buck converter uses less current than linear regulators.

As soon as you connect a load, the current induced in the coil will be able to flow and therefore create a magnetic field of their own. This will oriented in the other direction, so that it hinders the rotors movement. Bigger loads will draw more current and therefore more resistance when turning. What is the purpose of the capacitors in your circuit?

Following the LM317 documentation: " Performance may be improved with added capacitance as follow: • An input bypass capacitor of 0.1 µF • An adjustment terminal to ground 10 µF capacitor to improve the ripple rejection of about 15 dB (CADJ). • An 1 µF tantalum (or 25 µF Aluminium electrolytic) capacitor on the output to improve transient response. In addition to external capacitors, it is good practice to add protection diodes, as shown in figure below D1 protect the device against input short circuit, while D2 protect against output short circuit for capacitance discharging. "

Are there more in depth explanation and demonstration on how to solder the board and how the wired connect? Im going to make this for my school project. I started getting confused at the voltage regulator part. Im a beginner.

the reason of the hardness of the cranking is due to the gearbox attached to the motor to decrease its KV and RPM assumed values which in gearbox motors are good for and for cranking measurements which in turn creates good voltage values which are nearly acceptable

from what i learned in college any dc monitor can be rotate in reversed and use as generator, in real application can all motors can be used?

Why hasn’t anyone built one and sell them at gyms, everyone goes to gyms. Why not make use of all those bikes and make electricity. It’s a win win.

Hi i have hand crank generator that is able to give me 35watt of power. The problem is that when i try to charge my phone with it, it only charges at 0,45A max.... phone charges but why it cant charge at 1,5A ? It would be only 7,5W. when i am turning crank i feel changing resistance(Load is switched?) on the handle as the phone battery tries to draw more current, but every time it tries that it stays back at 450mah and cant even climb to 1A. Where the problem is? How to solve it? I think it is some battery protection circuit that tries to draw to much current(maybe 2A or 3A) then the resistance on the handle is much higher so during handle rotations voltage drops and it starts again from 0,45A

inductance capacity below 300 miliamps is kinda of a waste of time in that most heat and positive charged electricity will be grounded by heat sink.

The motors are geared. See how there's two sections to the motor at 0:20? The top section is a gear box. An un-geared motor would basically never spin that slowly.
