Hey Paul. Nice video. I've seen all kinds of drum lessons on U tube. I think yours work for me the best out of them all.. Reading music took me awhile. And watching certain drum lessons on utube just didn't click for me. What I mean is for me personally. Some lesson explanation are gone threw way to fast. Or the instructor talks so fast threw the lesson I was thinking huh? What he say? Or an instructor would play a fill let's say. A liner fill. He blow's three it at top speed and he's looking bad to the bone. Lol. But I didn't catch or learn to much very fast. Again I'm speaking of my own personal experience. Your drum lessons hit me like a Mack Truck. So easy to understand. I'm actually kinda shocked how much I did retain. So I wanted to say thank you. Thanks very much for your good help and instructors. So keep pounding my friend. And I'll be looking forward to your next class. Lance k. Holum

Mr. Palmer, excellent playing. You're right, things sound better when they are played well, whether simple or advanced. You demonstrated this very well in this video. You're left hand ghosting from groove to fill really adds feel, clarity, and dynamic to your playing. What are some of the stroke rolls you are playing between the hand and foot double combinations. Thanks!
@louiepalmerdrums
@louiepalmerdrums 8 жыл бұрын
+nsampson37 Thanks for the compliment! I'd have to look closely but it's probably a lot of single strokes with accents. You can get a lot of mileage from one note rate and one sticking simply by adding dynamics and accents.

Try breaking things up into groups. Then join them when you get comfortable. To much talk. I find if a drum teacher says hello I'm so so. Then let's get to it. Show the liner drum fill on a music sheet. And if it's 12 notes long. Brake it down into 3 units. Like this. KRL. KKRLRL. KRL. This is 12 singal strokes. Start slow. If your a bigginer or new to this go real slow. And maybe brake them down like shown above. When you get used to the pattern put them all together. Slowly start with your bass drum and snare. Now if your new again slowly tell the muscle memory builds. Now you will start to build your speed with practice. Finally make it your own. Move around the drum set with your right hand first. Then as you please. Not everything will sound good. It's up to you to find that smokin cool combo that works for you. Remember speed timing and various phrasing can be a blast. Fast slow soft and easy. Good luck
