From memory, your video on the Festool was a good part of why I bought it several years ago. I've used it almost exclusively to sand our walls in our house. I was happy with it. Thanks for posting another video and for not discounting Mirka despite your past negative experience. I appreciate the long term test reviews as it's always easy to get excited when we just bought tools and are only using them for a few days / weeks. Thanks again.

Thank you and yes the Festool / Mirka comparison video I did a few years back did prove helpful to a lot of folk pointing out the benefits of each. Appreciate your comment and I’ll certainly be returning with future long term content about the Deros 2 😀😀👍👍

Hi Leo, great video as always. I will be building myself a new workshop at some point this year and when it's done I plan on investing in a high end sander, so this was helpful in the M v F decision, thank you. I'll be at Makers Central in a few weeks so hopefully I can get to check one out, assuming they will be there.

Cheers for the message Daniel. My answer to quite a few folk is whatever sander you choose to go with you’re are getting an excellent product. It just becomes a matter of personal preference how it feels in your hand. Please pop along and say hello at MC👍👍

Hi Leo, Good honest review on your new Mirka Deros, you seen to be very happy with it, like you said less vibration and lighter to use that is what you want. looks an impressive hand sander and like your self the price of power tools are on the up. As always a honest and great review and plenty of productive waffle🤣🤣Great video mate, Take care👍

A massive lesson learned in my case. Had 3 mirka sander all treated like baby’s and never abused. All 3 went bang and mirka make the parts so expensive there not worth repairing. For me never again. On a brighter note Leo I do with you many happy hours sanding. Keep up the great video content 👍

Leo great review. However, sorry to ask and off topic I know but what flush trim bearing guide router bit would you recommend if I was cutting from a template into a 50mm piece of Oak. Needs to be top bearing and long enough to cut from a hand held 1/4 inch router. I do have a 1/2inch router but it scare the pants off of me.
@Hand-i-Craft7 ай бұрын
Blimey mate that’s a tough question. With a 1/4 inch palm router it’s such a big ask (and boy a lot of stress on the bit) to try and attempt to trim 50mm of oak. I have to be honest with you that isn’t something I’d be trying personally so I can’t help you on that one. Sorry pal and hope you manage to find a solution to it 👍👍

Iam wanting to buy one but do you need to buy the big dust extractor for it to be dustless or do they do bags
@Hand-i-Craft3 ай бұрын
You’d have to hook it up to a dust extractor Andy in order for the dustless thing to work. I don’t think they supply them with the little bags 🤷♂️
@garethwatson79997 ай бұрын
So would you get this over the festool, I’ve got festool dust extractor and few other festool bits but I just need a decent sander, not everyday use but deffo weekly!
@Hand-i-Craft7 ай бұрын
Like I said in the video pal, at this end of the market I think it boils down to personal preferences. For me personally the lighter weight of the Mirka and the lower ergonomic profile feels better in my hand, particularly as it means less fatigue in my one working arm. Not taking anything away from the Festool, that is also a great sander. Pros of the Festool too is if you’re already in the Festool system it is the same power cable👍. I would say if you are considering one or the other is to go to a store like Axminster tools that stock both and pick them up to see what feels better for you👍👍

@Hand-i-Craft6 ай бұрын
@@genoleso2035 Dust collection seems fine, but I didn’t have any issues tbh with the previous generation Mirka. What type of disc you use and what kind of dust extractor also play a big part in effective dust collection 👍

I could tell that you'd moved away from Festool to Mirka by the fact that your pencil and toothbrush are Mirka yellow and black😉 Seriously though thanks for the enthusiastic insight into the new one, not that I will be replacing my mk1 version but it's still nice to keep up to date.

The key question is,have Mirka addressed the reliability issues.
@Hand-i-Craft7 ай бұрын
As I’ve said in a previous comment Gordon, I have no insider knowledge but my understanding is the main cause for the reliability concern was addressed in a latter upgraded version of the original model👍
