Can you expkain how to make this with also have the chain on the sides?

Add two more stitches when starting the blanket and then knit them as last stitch in every row and skip as first.

Great tutorial. If I wanted to add a braided boarder on the sides of the blanket do I just add two extra stitches to the blanket and just knit always at the ends? If I do that do I drop the first stitch just like you've done on previous videos? I hope I'm explaining correctly.

I bought this yarn and am very excited to make this. However, it really looks like you have casted on 17 stitches and not 18. It looks like an odd number of stitches is needed to begin and end in an knit stitch is this correct?
