There are “Chalk Markers” available that you can use to sketch out your design on the glass before applying the permanent color. I’m an old sign painter and use these chalk markers to layout my windows. 👍

You gotta preheat oven 350 , heat for 30min , turn off put glass in for 6 hrs do not open the door or they will break

Hey, dont know if you remember me but I had reached out to you back in September/September October. I wanted to know did you ever try the oven bake trick with the wine glasses? Also when you design your wine glasses what do you use to seal the design so that it cannot wash off?

Oh yes Posca are great for chalkboards but you DEFINITELY want oil based and not water based pens. Use DecoColor or Sharpie!

This is NOT permanent. If you add enough layers of this pen, bake it in the oven to cure and wash it by hand it should last a good little while!

Hi there... I’ve read that you either place in a cold oven and turn it on bake at 350 for 20 minutes OR if you let them sit for 30 days before using, its the equivalent. So either “bake” to cure or a “cold” cure. I was afraid to put them in the oven, but people do it all of the time apparently.

Oh ok thank you so much for the information I will look more into the oven method, I’m doing an order of 50 wine glasses for a month from now and that would seem faster in case I need to do the cold method

Nope it will eventually come off. If you have to do these I would they’ll your client not to put them in the dishwasher. You CAN make them last longer by placing them in the oven after lettering. It’s supposed to “cure” the ink making it more resistant to wear and tear. I’ve also heard that if you let the glasses sit for 30 days before handling, that’s equivalent to a more “natural” cure.

Having said all that though I maintain DecoColor ink is superior to sharpie and if you do 2 coats it’ll last well beyond the event (but not forever)... hope this helps!!!

Oh it will wash off eventually but you give the ink a better chance if you cure it in the oven. I didn't have the nerve!

This is a DecoColor OIL BASED paint pen. You can get it from Amazon or an art supply store. Try Dick Blicks if you have one. Hobby Lobby is also a friendly brick and mortar you can walk into and find these pens individually. Sharpies work too, I just prefer DecoColor. Good luck!
