I studied graphic design before computers - everything was done by hand. I'm grateful for Adobe software but I also appreciate seeing younger artists carrying on the tradition of hand work!

Listening to James Lewis talk about the passing of his parents at an early age literally broke my heart. I have always admired him, his work and talent and now I have an even greater respect for him. He's been through so much at an early age, yet he managed to stay focused and determined to achieve his goals. I wish him continuous success, his parents would be so proud of all that he's accomplished.

James's story is very inspiring. I love how he has stayed humble and honest despite being famous. And I love when the interviewer knows what he's talking about and not just asking questions. Thank you for creating useful content like this one!

I met him in person while he was in Jakarta, Indonesia last year. Hearing his story, and the fact that we are the same age, but he achieve that much, just mind blowing. It was incredible!

OMG listening to the story about his parents passing made me want to cry. So touching. It makes the fact he is successful with his career so much more gratifying.

I love the attitude about how to attack the circumstances that can come from life, and thrive towards dreams. I have been thinking about going to get a regular job but my body is damaged and disabled and it's different for me. In the among the disbelievers in my life that would want me to choose another path that is practical I still have faith in myself and my abilities and my dreams to make it reality.

Thank you for this video! I was actually practicing calligraphy while listening to the video (trying to get into the habit of practicing calligraphy and illustration for at least 30 min a day over lunch whilst listening to a podcast or a video) and it gave me hope that every bit of practice will make me suck less ;) I just thought I was a slow learner. Very inspiring and great work James. Thank you for throwing nuggets of wisdom in between , Chris.

Dan is from South Africa, but I think his mum is from the UK guys, even though the accent is different, some of the words sometime sound like Dan's voice. 😀 Great quick workshop and thanks all to make it happen 🙏.

Super super inspirational!! I've always loved hand lettering, but I just do quotes and stuff that I find interesting on the internet, and I mix that with watercolour paint. This was great! Thank you Futur team!!!

I’m loving this intro to hand lettering - JAmes is fantastic and I am blown away by the fact that he is so young and is doing great hand lettering. So you may not think so but I personally am 60 plus and was taught lettering by an “ old guy” about 25 yrs ago - and he said it too - the best sign painters don’t get good until they are older. Like in OLD. So I’m waiting to get OLD so that I will be as good as Leonard, my mentor. He has since passed but I feel he is still looking over my shoulder and correcting my brush angle and the basic construction of a letter. Meanwhile I am still hand lettering and was the onsite artist for a national golf tournament - did the winner’s check in calligraphy and it was broadcast on national tv. I love hand lettering- but don’t be misled. Yes I can work on a computer - dual platform - and have had many things published. I am enjoying the happiness of James as he does his letters. I am also proficient in Photoshop and illustrator and taught it for the past 20 yrs. I love beautiful lettering and hand lettering is one of my faves. Thank you for doing the REAL lettering, by hand. It’s beautiful!

Just for the record - I am a teacher - graphics and lettering. Majored in graphics. Did a few years of freelancing. I still love it and love seeing younger artists doing hand lettering. James is in love with letters - I can see it. I no longer teach in the schools but I still do lettering jobs. It never gets old even though I do! Chris Do is fabulous. He knows how to draw out his guest’s ideas and offers a lot of support. I love watching him too!

I knew I heard a voice similar to his before. He does sound like Dan Mace who is from South Africa, but also Avant-Garde Vegan/Gaz Oakley who is also from Cardiff. Also I listen to jazz chill beats too when I do my design work. Jazz-Hop is the best. Nice video it was inspiring to hear his story and watch him work.

...should have Erik Marinovich and/or James Edmondson. both are hand letterers, but one(James) focuses on type design and doesn't do 'generic' fonts. yes he's very well known and his interviews aren't boring.... he did the wordmark for Atlasssian. you're welcome.
