wow, thats amazing! can the tubing and heating be done without the metal step? i have a friend that makes them by tying a small string around the ends, i wonder if the tubing would make them extra secure?
@ecoperro16743 жыл бұрын
Hi Alina Marie Thank you for your kind comments. Heat shrink tubing is used to tidy up and secure many such projects. I am sure that your friend could use the same method to very good effect.

Nice but how would you do that without one of those hydraulic machines?
@ecoperro1674 Жыл бұрын
Hi There are smaller hand held versions available and I've even seen people use a vice..... Not that I recommend that. I think the answer is that you could not do the same job without the swaging machine

what was your total length of rope before and after you swagged the ends?

Where can I find the aluminum ferrules, hot knife and crimp swaging machine?
@ecoperro16743 жыл бұрын
I bought them all on eBay. The ferrules I now buy direct from the manufacturer which is Talurit.

Now that's a dog lead, not a few stitches holding it together that come apart and can't be trusted with anything bigger than a Chihuahua.

Hi, I was looking for the presses but I can't find it.
I bought mine used from eBay. It is a talurit swaging machine. They still make similar ones.

If the rope I purchase is 10mm, do I buy the 10mm sleeve?
@ecoperro16743 жыл бұрын
Hi Correct. I think the rope I used here was 10.2 mm and the sleeves were 10mm. You could probably buy 9.5mm rope and that would still work. 10mm rope and 10mm sleeve is the ideal combination though.

@@j.s.46 ah..... My apologies, I misunderstood. I use 10mm rope and the Aluminium sleeves are 10mm sleeves. They would still work for rope down to about 9mm but no less. The press also then needs to have the correct 'Die' to compress 10mm sleeves as there are many different sizes available. The press is made by Talurit ..... Lots of info on their website about sizes available and machines etc. Hope that helps.

Where did I you buy the press to compress the sleeves?
@ecoperro16744 жыл бұрын
Hi They are like Hens teeth ..... Difficult to come by second hand because they last forever and are so useful. I bought mine on ebay. I had to wait for months for one to come up. New ones are rather expensive.

@@ecoperro1674 How did you size the sleeve? I make paracord leashes.
@ecoperro16744 жыл бұрын
@@j.s.46 Hi I get the shrink tubing from eBay. The ads usually have a sizing guide. As shrink tubing will shrink to a fraction of it's original size.... You don't have to be too exact with the sizing. I measured the circumference of the widest part of the aluminium sleeve and just made sure the tubing was slightly bigger.
