I’m some years late but I wonder how long did they try to let the mother get use to her own baby before they jumped in and took over and why didn’t they just leave the baby monkey with the mother so she can get used to her baby and they stepped in as needed give mother and child that opportunity for bonding 🤷🏽♀️

I am very concern that there wasn’t any cuddling and hands on contact. If there wasn’t, you are failing your job

Do you have a degree in rearing macaques? Just because in the wild the babies are held 24/7, doesn't mean it's required. Wild mommy monkeys don't have playpens or incubators.

@@dr.donnawalter4380 Too many people believe they're experts because they watch large amounts of 10 minute videos. You do learn some from them, but you have to read articles as well. Also, a lot of people assign human emotions to these monkeys. They may have some, but I don't think Love is one of them.... A hungry mommy monkey would most likely, choose food over their baby.

I wonder how breeding farms do it? Baby macaque they're born in laboratory settings all the damn time and they're able to raise them... So what gives why can't I sue successfully management macaque in such a way as to allow a mother to be able to raise its own baby? It almost doesn't make sense. The breeding farms are terrible conditions and they don't have that high of an infant mortality rate I think it's 30% which is about what you get in the wild with most species of macaque

I agree. It’s depending on the facility What kinds of studies they supply animals to Species regulated based on studies as well. If behavioral / psychological study depends on the study goals. They are separated because mom rejects just as often as in wild settings. I’ve read studies where the point was separating an anxious mom and anxious infant Giving calm mother the anxious infant & vice versa It showed the calm mother’s could change the emotional trajectory evelopment of anxious macaque infants When switched back the infant changed back to anxious infants. Therefore they have info on treatment of mother child psych issues in humans. The studies testing meds and pulling infants placing in groups and starting medical experimentsments are horrific reading to a compassionate person. I know Jane Goodall Bob Ingersoll “Project Nim”. ( Nim Chimpsky language study & other psych testing at Univ of Oklahoma up till the 1980s and Mindys Memory Rescue are all working on changing those laws governing these studies. U can look up Mindys Memory sanctuary NewCastle Oklahoma and they have lots of that kind of info .
