I think you should review the LEE hand loading press, its a lot less expensive than the Buchanan, but it truly is designed for sitting on the couch depriming. And for around fifty bucks its an awesome little press.

Randy, I learned how to reload from a hunting buddy on a Dexter reloading press C clamped to his kitchen table.. I could not afford the Dexter at the time so I bought the Lyman 310 tools. Several years later I bought an RCBC Rockchucker and after Fred Huntington started making Dexters press I was able to afford one & I have been using it ever since. I followed your serious upgrades a couple years ago on another more intellegent forum and your press is a marvelous instrument. This press is an excellent press for apartment dwellers, RV'ers and anyone that would like to take their reloading to the field with them. Sorry so many of our faturnity desire to be so negative without ever having experienced using your press. Keep up the good work you have a very fine tool.

Gavintoobe, I'm a military police officer and a fan of yours here in Brazil, I always follow the videos, although I do not understand English so much, I learn a lot. I'd like to ask that you, if you could, make a video about Lee Precision's new progressive press, Auto Breech Lock Pro, because your videos are very enlightening.

I have used this press for 357, .44mag and several rifle calibers from 22 K-Hornet to 7x57. I also have the RCBS version which works well, but this is a higher level of machine work.. Perfect for a portable loading kit.

I love my Buchanan press. It gets as much use as my single stage and turret presses. The first time through with military brass I use the rock chucker. I have used this press for it but it is tough. Good job showing that it can be done

All of my reloading is for precision long range events so I now seat bullets on an Arbor press. I do see a use for this on a bench for a shooter who is experimenting with seating depth. I also don't care how much it costs because if I had a use for it I'd buy it without hesitation. When I read posts from people saying a piece of kit is beyond your budget, then if you're a serious shooter and reloader save up for it instead of compromising with inferior trash like Lee. Buy once instead of twice!

arbor press is far superior to this one.

When you said it's not cheap, I though it would be about $1000 bucks or so. just checked the website its only $275 it's not so bad. nice video.

My range kit is a 20 year old Lee hand press with collet die to size and an arbor press and Wilson seated die. Bring a few powders, the powder meter and trickler with a scale and a windproof cover and you will be dialing in a great load in no time. One after noon at the range and I can make any gun clover leaf bullets.

I've been thinking of getting the Lee portable hand press, but this hotrod looks far superior!
@doctorgears93589 ай бұрын
I like the versatility of this because you can also clamp it and use it like a normal press. Can’t do that with the Lee one. Of course, for the price, if you buy this there’s no reason not to pick up the Lee too. Throw the lee universal decapper into it and now you have a dedicated decapper you can watch TV with

I use a Lee mandrel style neck sizing die for .308 bolt guns. No lube required. That press would work very well for that along with all the other reloading steps of course. He just showed a full resize to demonstrate how rugged the press is.

Looks like a lot of added work trying to size the case and keeping the press steady since its not bolted down. Also looks like the stem from the sizing die can poke you in the face. Horrible idea!

Wow Really nice portable press. I bet the benchrest and F class guys eat these up. It would be so nice to change your loads just a bit out in the field, I bet. Nice job Gavin!

Thanks for sharing this, I had no idea about this product and I must have 1 this would be great to have at the range if you ever needed to make up some loads for whatever reason now you have a much better option on doing so

What I have been waiting for. Didn't know it was out there. Load 10 shot developers then have sized primed brass with me at the range and a wind proof scale and load the nodes with out magnetospeed for group. Gotta have it! But why not round handles?
@keanematthews6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for a good review of the tool. Demonstrating the effectiveness with the machinegun-fired .308 brass was a cool (extreme) example of a worst-case scenario & I'm sure all of the keyboard commandos missed the significance. Keep up the great video work!

I could see using this with my Type S neck sizers and bullet seating dies. I know it was just a demonstration of the capability, but you couldn't pay me to size once fired 7.62 with that.. That is some tough stuff.

yeah nice for going to range and changing seating depth or having some pistol brass already primed and case mouth expanded you can put together some loads right there at the range for some load development !

Would be great to know if the dimensions are the same as the Hornady presses that was the dies do not need to be adjusted when moving from a Hornady press to this one when at the range.

@krisgreenwood51736 жыл бұрын
This would be great for the die hard shooter who wants to do his load development at the range. I think I would take some pre-sized and primed cases with me along with my scale and powder measure. More shooting and less work. Yes, it's a bit pricey but if you are a die hard shooter no price is too high.

I was looking at this hoping it would be a decent option for reloading without having a bench (renting an apartment), but it doesn't seem very reasonable. Best use-case I can come up with is reloading while at the range. What can you, or anyone who reads this, recommend as a more portable bench rather than a portable press?
@rifleshooterchannel2086 жыл бұрын
ashiha Get a bench grinder stand from Harbor Freight and mount a press to that. A small press like the Lee Reloader (SKU 90045) would probably work well. Also Lee apparently now makes a small reloader stand too, SKU 90688.
@peterkolovos30796 жыл бұрын
There is a pedestal press stand I've seen available for people who live in apartments and small condos. You bolt all of your reloading gear to it and it can be stowed in a closet.
@ashiha136 жыл бұрын
Peter Kolovos I can't seem to find one like you are mentioning. Being able to fold it and put it out of the way is a HUGE plus. If not, I think the grinder stand is probably my best option. Thanks.

I don't know, $300 for a hand-press? I have a Lee hand-press and I'm willing to bet it does just as good of a job reloading, and the Lee Hand-press is a lot cheaper to buy.

Rifle Shooter Channel the NRA is doing their job. They are not and never have been a gun rights/pro 2A organization. They started gun control by testifying in congressional committees in favor of gun control and then helped write the NFA & GCA. They haven't changed. Really, is this what you want to do, encourage people to take a press on the couch & perform actual reloading procedures, are you nuts, how about when I'm on the toilet, how many cases can be resized in that time......that machine & your suggestion is ridiculous.....broadcasting in this manner is irresponsible, reloading should be taken seriously, its the last thing that should be done on a couch!!! ........by the way, James Bond called, he wants his press back!
@goldenarrow496 жыл бұрын
rick pelkis what's wrong with performing some reloading procedures on the couch. I could see sizing and depriming on the couch maybe priming with a hand primer then moving to the kitchen table for charging cases and seating bullets. Also I think this would be cool to for a reloading setup in a travel trailer.
@zanpekosak23836 жыл бұрын
In some countries that are more sane you actually need a dedicated room to reload. Powder on the couch where your cigar smoking grandpa sits seems like a good idea? Man seriusly you are not dealing with cherries and their pits here. These are bullets (cartridges for profesionals) and you need your full focus on them and not the tv or your cat nearby...
@goldenarrow496 жыл бұрын
AirsoftSlo In this country that is more sane no one would smoke in a house where the owner doesn't smoke and smoking is getting less and less common. No one is suggesting powder on the couch sizing and depriming don't require powder or even "bullets" which aren't dangerous by themselves. I am glad for you that your country is protecting you from yourself but I prefer the freedom to decide for myself what it safe and what is not. I hope you understand I am not attacking you but just expressing an opinion that you may not have considered.
