Once I’ve practiced more I really, REALLY want to have a go at spinning with recycled sari silk… to start off, I think I might have to go with a blend of wool and recycled sari silk though. Your yarns are beautiful!

Just a tip for those who want it…I have a satin spinning apron. I love that nothing sticks to it! I stand up, brush off and am immaculate. Personally I also really like that there’s no additional drag on the fibre supply that’s resting on my lap.

@@bybeccalewis you won’t regret it! At my local guild, they look askance at me because I’m not wearing some nice handspun linen…until they realize that I’m clean at the end of a session and their aprons are covered in fibre!🤣

Hi Becca! Beautiful! I am still new to spinning, so haven't ventured too far in what I've tried to spin with. Love the colors in your recycled sari silk. Thank you for showing us. Oh, I accidentally let the twist go into my triangle of fiber before. Dreadful and frustrating (tears, may I say) when that spin jumps back into your fiber. I am getting better at it, but I have so much to learn. How I wish I lived near you, so we could sit and spin together. Oh, how fun that would be!! Thank you for finding that blue piece of fabric. It's much better to see! First day, I am feeling better. 3 days in hospital last week from kidney stones. Terrible pain. My first time with them, not sure why now, but will definitely drink more water now! Merry Christmas, my friend!❤

I was lucky enough to win some recycled silk fiber in a raffle this weekend, and I've been having tons of fun figuring out how to spin it! Thanks for your video on how you do it! The short and slow draws have been key, and it's very different from wool - and after starting spinning with pet fur lol, it's also more familiar. I'm using a drop spindle, but a lot of the same rules apply!

can I spin this on a Book Charkha spinning wheel?

I have no experience with Charkha wheels however I would imagine you could spin recycled silk on one . You can buy small amounts of this fiber so give it a go. I would love to hear how you get on . 🐏🧶🌸
