What are the tools used for this video?I have a Westie that absolutely hates being touched by anybody except me so I am trying to build up my toolkit and the knowledge to strip her myself to avoid her the trauma of being touched :( . But I cannot find anywhere any info on what tools to use…

Do you have an example of stripping a Cairn Terrier you can show?
@dogsofpride15743 жыл бұрын
@@veronicacorrea7645 There may be some old pics on my FB page but I am now retired (due to Lyme disease) Exactly the same procedure, just different pattern, look up best in show winners for better looking outlines and use those as your guide.

What is that first tool you use called? I wasn't able to understand what you said and would love to order one.
@dogsofpride15743 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeanette - I referred to it as a Coat King, though that is more of the brand name from a specific manufacturer, mine is a "knock-off" though exactly the same head and can also be knows as an undercoat rake or deshedding tool too.

What is white brush that you are using?
@dogsofpride15743 жыл бұрын
It is not a brush, it is a stripping stone. It provides grip to the hair and then the technique is to hold some hairs against it to help pull them out of the coat. With a proper technique you will only remove dead hair which is ready to release and not well rooted still growing hair, therefore it does not hurt.

Great Video. This will be helpful for my JRT. Does the American Cocker Spaniel need to have the coat stripped on the sides where it is long? I feel like my year old female has a lot of dead hair that appears fine and mats. Thank you.
@dogsofpride15743 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it. If your Cocker is going to be shown, then yes the back is stripped. Your breeder should be the best person to ask about this! The fine airy stuff can have a tendency to grow back coarser when stripped properly, though not to destroy the correct pattern. Perhaps a product like the Texture paste from Pure paws would also help, or a good finishing spray to reduce the static. (try Pure Paws Finishing spray or Finnessiam SCENTsitive (scent free) Leave-In/Detangle spray. Take care.

I need to strip my dog. She is Scottish terrier. Could you please give me advice how I can find groomer to strip her. I live close to Pittsburgh PA. Thank you for your videos
@dogsofpride15743 жыл бұрын
Glad you like them. Check out your local groomers and ask who has experience or specialises in hand stripping, ask to see photos of their work or references even! You could also check sites of the professional association websites and see if there is anyone in your area listed as certified. nationaldoggroomers.com/groomer-locator

I have had that since I started grooming at school in the UK! It is a stripping stone, there are many different types, try other show/terrier supplies stores/sites.

@@christinedickenson7514 Hi, that is a stripping stone, it is like a rough pumice type of stone which helps with gripping the hair.
