In 1985, on the occasion of Pierre Boulez' sixtieth birthday, Luigi Nono wrote this piece for contra-alto flute, contrabass clarinet and electronics. Calm, extremely nuanced in the dynamics especially in the piano and with a slow build-up to a forte climax, it is characteristic of Nono's late work.
