I have no idea about the bags/ buckets, but the cone represents rays of energy. What I notice the most in these carvings is that the bags is ALWAYS right under the upper hand, even if the character is facing us the arm carrying the bag will cross the body to be under the other hand, thus the arms ALWAYS form an angle, the body and its two arms forming the letter K. That's intriguing. The bearers of the bags also always wear a watchlike bracelet, which must be related to the action depicted. Another idea is that these gods are the ones who taught us agriculture, and that's what they are showing here. How to pollinise and water plants. Would make sense.

I also noticed the weird arm angles in these type pictures. In the Eleusinian Mysteries a woven basket gets mentioned many times as if it contains the mystery. The supposed “hand bag” is known as “Kamandal”, a vessel made of wood in ancient time to carry holy water. Is it not this just a simple way to show someone collecting corn from a tree, with one actually in his hand ready to be thrown into the bucket or bag? If I was an illustrator, that will be a good way to capture the action.

Currently countries around the World, especially those with Nuclear capabilities, have developed portable Nuclear Weapons that can fit inside a small bag or suitcase. While some see these bags as a fashion statement, who's to say these were a warning statement of the weapons capabilities of those carrying these bags. Who's to say that what resembles a watch on their wrist is nothing more than a remote device to trigger the weapon? Surely many carrying such bags would be a deterrent to War.

In my analysis, It is highly doubtful they are simply “symbols in art” To me, they were true objects which depictions included as key to a story/expression of historical content. What they held was something useful, perhaps mushrooms or poppies for rituals. There's nothing mystical about these bags if you understand the technology that they are used for. Have you ever heard of a product from the 1960's called a Bonafone? Yeah it was a wrap-around your neck radio that only you could hear. Well, these bags do the same thing. I agree that the items function as communication devices, but I believe that they are symbolic as well, of the gift of divine knowledge given to mankind. The tree represents the origin, the source of all things and life itself. The watch/bracelet is likely a symbol of status for those who wield power. The bag/bucket is held in the Left hand and deliberately displayed to convey its significance.
