Meet Darryn Coleman from DC customs and this 1953 Ford F1 Pickup Truck that he built for a customer. This down to bare metal fully custom build has won many awards and definitely stands out between other Ford pickups. Unique colour is actually a standard BMW colour, but it transforms this truck completely and suits the custom design. Although the car parts are quite easy to get from America, Darren and his team had to customise almost everything to fit this car as one custom modification leads to everything else also needing to be customised. One of the biggest challenges of this build was fitting the Mustang Coyote 5.0l engine in at the bottom of the engine bay between the frame riles. And the best thing? Love the builds of love like this. Joe Rogan kinda brought reality to us poor folks thoughts when he revealed that his $150k built vehicle had a wheel fall off. Then, he spent even more to make it road worthy. These vehicles are beautiful sitting still with the builder pointing out the chrome door hinges. But will it make it to 5k miles for an oil change?? It’s too bad Jon Ward charges $350k for his version of the 50’s pickup. But, he uses an art Morrison rolling chassis, and coats all metals with under ocean pipeline coatings. Uses a crate motor with warranties. Etc etc. but screws the pricing because no one that pays that much for a vehicle will ever use it the way his builds are intended for…driving!!! And he argues with his customers over “custom” additions. Morrison or Porterbuilt, Nelson engine, and icon build coatings would make the perfect custom vehicle. This is beautiful! I’d like to hear a progress/repair log for 30+k mileage. Beautiful though. But so is a painting.
