I'm a former police officer. I develop armed security officer training curriculum and I train armed security officers. Thank you for a great video. Now I don't have to reinvent anything. I can show security officers this video. It's 100% on point. It's consistent with most of the training I have ever received but it's been difficult finding a video that shows it this way. There are some really bad videos in KZbin world!!!

NIce video. In our training though we are taught to not use the handshake method due to it can give the suspect a chance for control over you.

I’m a former corrections officer and tactical team leader. I’m now a an armed security contractor and security trainer. I’m not a fan of hinged cuffs unless you’re in a corrections or jail setting. While you’re discussing compliant handcuffing chained cuffs are easier to apply and less likely to cut the skin during application. Just my 2 cents…great video 👍🏽

Thanks for your input! Your experience as a tactical team leader and security trainer definitely adds depth to the conversation. We appreciate your thoughts on the advantages of chained cuffs in terms of ease of application and skin safety. Glad you enjoyed the video!

One thing i was always taught when cuffing someone is exactly like you said "if they flee let them" so long as they are off my property i could care less i would have already reported them to law enforcement

KEY HOLES DOWN folks. What goes on must come off. Key holes up is the same as key holes facing/touching the prisoner's butt. Without flexibility and cooperation they are a pain for corrections officers AND arestees to take off. Jails also have a wonderful tool called cuff ports. Key holes up makes us struggle to create enough space between their body and the cuffs and then awkwardly reach over to the back side to unlock them. We also sometimes have to "leap frog" two sets of handcuffs on uncooperative arestees to get their shirts and jackets off them one at a time while searching. Key holes DOWN is required for the primary cuffs lowest on the wrists. I get it.. The biggest priority is to put them into handcuff however you're able to do so at the time but if you get a chance, do it right. If your training specifically states keyholes up, I'd love to hear why. I don't buy the "easier to tamper with" argument. Search them properly.

Our client wants us to force people even when they flee after shoplifting. Even if they ditch after they’ve shoplifted, it’s a direct chase of the person for obstructing my investigation when I detain them under shopkeepers privilege. Them running escalates the situation into a citizens arrest because of the obstruction. I was really hoping to see some training on non-compliant suspects.

NO! You grab his hand like that he now has a hold of you, small security officer is screwed by a larger person, put them in a praying hand position grab there fingers because you now have control not the other way around.
