She is marvelous! and with a fine orchestral partnership, especially good bassoon [;aying in the first aria. Almost three hundred years ago, Handel's castrati singers mesmerized the stage. Even in a concert performance, Joyce DiDonato draws us back into that powerful musico-dramatic world. Thank you for making this available.

Michael...I have loved and admired Joyce for a long time. So have thousands of people. You will find her singing in many styles on KZbin. She often sings for The Met. Her role in Agrippina is to die for. She has sung an inspiring concert "I dream a world" for The Met recently which you can pay a small amount "on demand" to watch. She speaks wise words during the concert, words of hope for us all. She is an angel.

Just mesmerizing !! I love everything about this. Creative beginning. Joyce is in as good voice as I have ever heard. She is a treasure, both vocally and dramatically. Amazing sound engineering on this too. Makes such a difference. The gentleman playing the lute like instrument is very handsome. Never hurts . Lol

It’s a sort of improvisation, based on the notes written for the entire orchestra by Haendel, the cembalist reads the whole partitura and makes a sort of compendium... then the continuo players (tiorba, viola da gamba, guitar, etc.) join him and perform a wonderful introduction to the aria
