I have learned a lot from all your videos, but this one especially. My husband is a master marksman, and he does okay teaching me, but he takes it for granted that I know things I don't. Then, when I ask questions they don't truly get answered, or he things I wouldn't need answers if I just did what he says. I had gained some accuracy, but our last trip to the range proved futile. I couldn't hit anything. Then, I watched this video, and today, I knew exactly what was wrong. All along, I had "focused on the front sight" like he told me to, but I didn't understand centering it between the two rear sights. Guess why? Because when I asked him why they were there if I wasn't supposed to focus on them, he didn't take me seriously and fully answer my question in a way that I understood, because he says he thought I was joking. But, armed with the information from your video today, I can proudly say I achieved nearly 100% accuracy, hitting where I was aiming.

Stav and Mac, as a new shooter, I appreciate this video so much. You guys both touch on a huge thing I've noticed as a beginner, that psychological flinch or overthinking that occurs when I'm trying to shoot at the perfect moment, instead of just accepting a general window of time to pull the trigger. Thank you both so much! Can't wait to get out and put these tips to practice 👍🏼

@@claytonbrown7120 Contrived? Well, yes. Isn't that obvious? It's certainly not that they randomly happened across the shooting range with their handguns and camera in tow and spontaneously began to film a shooting video. In addition to all the reinforcement of excellent shooter attitude and demonstration of an excellent self-training technique, it also provides the perfect counterbalance to the somewhat more common theme of "Gentleman's Carry". Wow, this is the best shooting tutorial I've ever watched. I've shot over 800 rounds but the group was always around the lower-left corner (I'm right-handed). I tried everything on improving my grip but didn't work. After watched this video, I realized my mistake is exact what Mac said in the video. I was waiting for the sight at the center of the target and pulled the trigger. This is how the flinching occurred. I tried the trigger control technique taught by Mac and it worked perfectly. Now I learned "It's ok for the sight movement. Let the gun surprise you". I'm able to put the round right on the center of the target now. Thank you so much.

Sadly, I don't have anyone here to help me, when I can, I will take some courses. Also, I am having dealing with some shoulder pain that I am sure would hinder my shooting right now. I have not even loaded my gun yet. Ammo is very hard to find, which worries me. I am excited about learning to shoot. I am 61. Gosh, that is hard for me to even think about. Hi! I have to thank you for this video. I've been shooting in the lower right (as a leftie) with my cc for over a month now, and haven't been able to correct it. This video addressed the exact problem. I went to the range, and worked on the slow trigger squeeze and one hole drill and letting the gun 'surprise' me. In just that one hour at the range, my shots went back to the center, and the groups tightened up. Thanks!!

Love how it was explained that even when the gun is floating a little bit a lot of the times the trigger is pulled when the front sign moves on the target. But then you don’t get a smooth trigger pull and you miss low left( right handed shooter.) I find that happens a lot for myself. This was excellent advice and a great video. I look forward to incorporating these drills the next time I go to the range.

Thank you for that. I have been blaming my grip for my low left issues and I thought my trigger control was good when in fact it is exactly, and textbook I might add, as you said. I overcompensate with the expectation of recoil so I flinch. When I shoot Revolvers in Double Action I watch the hammer come back and the cylinder turn in unison and just as you said I stop at the wall rather than cleanly sweeping through letting it happen whenever it happens. I thought I was being Single Action Jr. Nope, I was just setting myself up for failure. This is good. I have to get to the range, Pronto and put it to practice.

I just found you and I subbed. I am waiting on my license to get here and trying to figure out what kind of gun I should carry. I am thinking a revolver snub nose I think. That was a really great video I learned a lot from it and really enjoyed it very much. I am so glad I found your channel. I am a much older lady and it's really getting crazy out there in the world. But I refuse to just stay at home in side scared. That is simply not me I am very independent and self-sufficient. You helped. Thanks so much. I will be back to learn more. Tell your special friend thanks for the tips, I will definitely remember the movement is natural relax and slowly apply pressure on the trigger. Until the gun fires. Thanks guy's really good video.

This was a great video and I will be practicing this when I go to the range later this week. This explains why I consistently shot low and to the right (lefty). Just started shooting again after ~50 years and am enjoying it quite a bit. Trying to get my wife interested since we now live in Idaho. Also just subscribed. Keep up the great work.

Great trigger control advice. I was dry firing my shield with a laser cartridge while watching this and I’m pretty accurate when I know it’s not going to make noise. Now I get why it all goes awry at the range. I think this is going to really help. Will keep practicing dry but can’t wait to try with live ammo. Thanks much for posting this. New subscriber.

Hey Stav, I have to say, you deliver the BEST content on KZbin, all of your video's are so professional, informative & detailed and packed with so many useful tips that I personally use all of the time! This video is by far the best one I've watched on how to line up your sights to accurately hit the target. I LOVE how you guys break everything down with step by step instructions, it makes me feel like I'm being personally trained. Also, I wanted to give you a shout out for recommending Tactica Defense Fashion! I ordered a pair of the CC leggings using your code & I LOVE them, they are so comfortable to wear & the inside TPE polymer holsters are made really well, plus I like the fact they give you side pockets on each leg to carry your credit cards/cell phone. @@Dragon1165 they are okay for beginners to see where your point of impact is but after getting good training remove it because it gives away your location , in case you need to use it in a self-defense situation . Plus you wouldn't want to solely rely on it , batteries to die and and when they do you'll need to fall back to your sight fundamentals .

I will be trying these at the range next week. The ranges in our area require a holster class before we can draw unsupervised. But that’s coming up, lol. Paul Hokinson I’m sure it’s an insurance thing in our state as I haven’t found a range without it since we moved back. I keep a training log but don’t think it is transferable to another range here. It isn’t long and the one without it said just hire one of the trainers for an hour or so. Without the check off you are only allowed to be in low ready or lay the firearm down on the bench. I’m going to practice the drill at home and then get the check off.

Wow, I learned something today. Mac describing how people "stage" the trigger and it causes them to hit low, left if they are right handed. I didn't know that applied to a semi-automatic. When using a revolver, staging the trigger actually helps me to hit what I'm aiming at. Great video!!

New gun owner here. I've watched many videos on how to improve your shooting accuracy and just stumbled upon this video. After watching videos after videos and close to 1000 rounds on a range, my shooting got improved but not much. All the videos were emphasizing on grip and trigger control, but none mentioned about physical state of your mind. After watching your video, one thing really stands out "Let the gun surprises you". I've noticed that when I pull the trigger and anticipate a bang, my gun muzzle dips just like you said. When I let the gun surprises me, my accuracy goes up big time, even with double tap. 7 out of 10 shots were dead center at 15 yards. That's a big deal for new gun owner :-). Thank you so much. You guys are awesome
