I have no issues with .9mm, but THIS is why I carry .45. You may be limited with carry capacity and velocity, but .45 was chosen for it’s abilities for a reason by the US military. It’s meant to thump the shit out of what it hits. I know it’s simgel testing, it reacted much better than .9mm.

Why I carry 45acp and laugh when people claim they are all the same. When the 45acp was tested on live animals it was shown to be THE most effective round even as a slow FMJ. Now with todays ammo, its still very effective and has advanced even more.

@sei_asagiri2 жыл бұрын
@@kyle18934 higher caliber rounds arent always more deadly. it all has to do with kinetic energy transfer. There is no clear definition of stopping power, which means its not a measurement of anything. Lets say stopping power is the ability of a round to incapacitate a target. Then all that matters is whether or not the shot placement is effective enough to "stop" the target. If someone is shot in the leg by a .45 caliber bullet then it might stop them, it might not, it mostly depends on shot placement to find stopping power. kinetic energy of a bullet is just as important when it comes to lethality as caliber. Higher velocity rounds are more violent than lower velocity rounds like 45. Look up tests of ballistic human heads where a .45 round is being used and a 300 blk round is being used. In both videos the cranium is destroyed. Despite the head being blown in half in both videos, in the 300 blk video the head is blown into the air and off the table in a violent manner, and in the .45 video the head does not move in the slightest. This is why rifle rounds are considered more dangerous, as the transfer of kinetic energy is incredibly violent and can incapacitate targets.
@nickcastro6432 жыл бұрын
I finally found a good ballistics video. I was shot in the chest with a .45 acp. It wasn’t any defense round, it was a fmj. There is a huge difference in those rounds but it’s crazy to see what happens in slow motion after being shot. And he’s right, it feels like pro boxer punching you.

Its about more than calibers though. Here, the 45 is clearly more powerful. advantage is greatly exaggerated though by the choice of ammo. hot 45+P in a long barrel (?) with light for caliber ammo vs rather lackluster 9mm standard pressure. trying to recreate the loads with my reloading software while staying within saami specs, i max out at 111gr@1500fps with the 45 and at 90gr@1600fps with the 9mm (as opposed to 1700fps vs 1350fps for this ammo) usually the 9 will make up for lack in diameter somewhat by being faster. if it's slower too, it has nothing going for it other than round count, recoil and price.
@massmoney8292 жыл бұрын

I’m planning on getting a 1911 as a 21st bday present to myself in a few months and I’ve been debating internally for weeks on end about if I should get one in 9mm or go the classic route with 45. I was starting to lean towards 9mm since I already have Beretta px4 chambered in it (easy ammo logistics, not another caliber to reload, etc), and from everything else I’ve seen I always figured that 45 was only a slightly heavier hitter than 9mm, but with outdated ballistics and a reputation exaggerated well beyond the scope of reality via typical fudd hyperbole. But after watching this? Damn, I knew the fudds exaggerate a lot but holy fuck, this shits no fucking joke. Classic route it is. I’ll carry a spare 10rd WC mag to compensate for capacity, my minds made up.

Also, I know GrindHard was the sponsor, but it would have been interesting to see the 65gr Underwood 9mm using the same Lehigh Xtreme Defense bullet that this Grindhard ammo is using. It has far more velocity at 1800fps instead of 1400fps.

..."with modern ballistic loadings (and technology), 9mm Luger is every bit as powerful, or even more so, as 45 ACP". Yeah...somebody needs to tell someone something...and show them this video until their eyes bleed. I curious as to how much energy those rounds that went completely through had; maybe in future vids add some sort of bullet catcher...like some folded up high-tech fleece blankets or something.

45acp does more damage period and no, not all bullets are the same as certain fan boys claim.
@99Knytes2 жыл бұрын
@@zack9912000 er, I was referencing, and paraphrasing, the often cited/regurgitated FBI report about why they were switching back to 9mm from 40 S&W; chiefly, that "with modern ballistic loadings, 9mm is every bit effective as 45 ACP." Which is hogwash as I have yet to see a 9mm expanding hollow point get bigger than a dime while still achieving at least 15 inches of penetration in gel. Some types of 45 ACP, with the same penetration parameters, can get as big as a quarter. All things being equal...I'd rather have a quarter. And then you have the other often 'gurged line; "trauma surgeons can't tell the difference between 9mm and 45 ACP!" Yeah, no shit. They're busy trying to save a life or limb, not play forensic medical examiner.

I can tell you first hand what gunshots feel like, it's like nothing at all. You hear the immense ringing in your ears (it was indoors) and immediately start to look all over the body for the holes (after the thread was over). It takes about 3 minutes to "feel" the wounds by a light sensation after you've localized it. Though my account goes only for 9mm FMJ and 2 shots through the left leg without striking bones and the third went through the upper left arm, again not striking bones or bigger blood vessels. Blood loss on the leg was immense though, but again no big pain even after the hospital and the next days. It feels kinda strange while you walk, as the wound cavity obviously is missing tissue and you can sort of "feel" that. What's worse is the hearing problem you get. It took 4 weeks for me to make a normal conversation not painful anymore. Every frequency was sounding like white noise if a little bit louder then softly spoken. To this day i'm missing about 40% of my hearing capability on the left ear.

Didn't realize it was that loud, was it fired very close to your ear?
@bogeydope30222 жыл бұрын
@@EliFarb He was about 15ft away from me. When he shot, i immediately had the ringing in my ears and couldn't hear anything. Though i returned fire, but only 2 times wich definitely worsened the trauma. It was a pretty open hallway without much furniture, so it reflected quite a lot too.

I mean, this pretty definitively shows that while on paper .45 and 9mm may not be that far apart in energy ft lbs - in practice 45 is still far more powerful

This is a perfect example of why going by fpe is not very accurate. It benefits light fast bullets but that is not the best choice for stopping man or beast. Jmho

These are not hollow points. These are not law enforcement rounds. I’d like to see hollow point comparisons. 45 is better. Technology got a hold of the older 9mm and made it great. 45 is gods caliber. 9mm for carry for more rounds and great fire power. 16 rounds low recoil more powerful and faster than a 38. Special > low capacity 45 for conceal carry. You never know how many attackers there may be. Shot placement is key. I own a Glock 21 45acp full size service pistol and a Glock 19 Gen 5S for conceal carry 16 rounds of 147 hst 1000fps law enforcement rounds. I like 9mm a lot this video didn’t show hollow points. 45 does work but I rather carry 9mm. However, 45 is a god like pistol caliber.
@DystruktoBoi12 жыл бұрын
@@SoWavvyy they applied that same tech to 45s too. A good 9mm can expand to .63 - .65 inches. The absolute worst 45 expands to that without trying. I've seen 45 that expands to almost an inch, that would make a heck of a mess. I carry 380, 38spc, 9mm, and 45 myself, depending on the situation. I'm no caliber snob lol
@SoWavvyy2 жыл бұрын
@@DystruktoBoi1 45 is .45 of a inch a good 45 expands to 0.8 inches and good 9mm expands to .06 of a inch that’s bigger than a 45 other than a 45 hollow point but 9mm has the velocity for the bullet to expand correctly and not act like a full metal jacket I have been researching so many videos and I have tested the rounds myself I own both. I own both and tested both. Either round is not anything to mess with. 9mm 147 is still going faster than a 45. Velocity means the bullet will expand wider. Just a standard pressure 147 hst in real meat skin ribs and clothing tests. I trust my 9mm in any fight. I love the 45 it is bigger how ever I just like my 9mm low recoil and it’s faster than a 45 with good energy per foot pounds. Both are great rounds it’s 2021 almost 2022 technology made the 9mm a great round.
@SoWavvyy2 жыл бұрын
@@DystruktoBoi1 I can think 380 is good for a pocket pistol and small conceal carry it’ll get the job done however I just trust the penetration I rather have a micro 9mm with more recoil at least it’s way more powerful than the 380. I mean honestly I rather carry a 38 special snub nose revolver than a 380 acp. Again John browning did create the 380 acp so when 45 acp owners hate on it’s funny because they are both made from the same guy.
