Nana is right. You're an incredibly special person my dude. When I got out of the military I ended up homeless and addicted within a year. There was this one church that would load up their church van full of hot dogs and hamburgers and Gatorade and come through the homeless area handing it out nearly every night of the week. Kept me from starving to death, and made me believe I was worthy of my place in this world, and thus worthy of happiness and stability. NEVER underestimate the impact two minutes of your time can have on someone. I was sleeping on the sidewalk right around Halloween, big pack of teens was walking back from a haunted house. I felt something brushing my arm and started to panic, looking up, this kid who couldn't have been more than 16 apparently saw me shivering in my Tshirt and took his jacket off and covered me with it. I wish that kid knew the impact that had, and how many times a year I think of that interaction, and hope he's doing well. You can't get sober if you still believe that you're nothing more than a drain on a society that doesn't respect you as a human or want you around. Never underestimate the power of kindness and compassion in this world, it keeps so many people alive.

Wish I had my mom for mother's day but she's with Dad in heaven now. I miss her so much not to mention my son's bday was yesterday thanks to his mother not liking my mom she kept him out of my life anyway she could. But it's all good I will survive and be stronger for it.
