Hi Girls, thank you very much for the tip about SID open seams. I’m very much a SID quilter and it’s a tip I didn’t know. Happy quilting 🧵💗

Ty sew much for brightening my day, as well as teaching me some new tricks. Luv the wishbone trick at the end... I never could figure out how to start them, but starting at the halfway mark was a great tip. Thanks again!

I enjoyed this as I'm slowly learning. But I really appreciate when you got off tract and fixed it by going backwards. I usually stop and go through the whole ordeal of "fixing" it on the machine. That was a great nugget of information for me.

Kristina, I think you should 'let' Kim quilt once in a while! (Altho' it sounded like she didn't mind letting you have all the 'fun!') Great video once again. I want to compliment the camera person, they are doing a good job! We sometimes have no problem criticizing a person's skills, but 'forget' to compliment them on improving! Please share my "Good Job" for me. Thank you!

Yes I agree this is a video where we can actually SEE what is going on . Sadly in the recent past this aspect was lacking on many many videos but it's so good to see the standards returning to those we enjoyed during Vicky Hoth's time. Long may it continue.

HaHa!! We take turns but I have definitely been doing a lot of the stitching lately!! Thank you for the kind comment on the camera work. We just welcomed Jacob to our team and he is doing a fabulous job!

Question: Is there a rule as to where to start quilting on a quilt? In the middle? On the edge? Work from center out? Or does it matter? if it matters, when does it matter? Thanks for all the great information.

There are not set in stone rules. Generally for an all over design you will start in the top left and stitch that throat space and then move to the next row. If you are working on a stationary machine, many people start in the center and work their way out. It will depend on the machine and on how you intend to quilt it.

@@HandiQuilter Yes, I understand. It is your last statement that is the essence of my question. In particular, using a longarm machine to do free hand design work or even ruler work. Does one start in the center of the quilt working outward or does one begin on one side and work linearly block by block? Is it 'best' to do the broad general quilting throughout the quilt then go back and do the small fill in or is it best to quilt each block, or portion, totally then move on? As I am learning about quilting I tend to believe that possible quilt tension issues would be resolved by quilting general large areas first then going back and quilting the small fill in areas.Is this correct? If quilting general large areas first, on a longarm machine, does it matter whether to begin on the corner edge or in the middle? Personal preference aside, which way presents the least amount of problems? Therefore, the better method. Note: I was taught how to quilt E2E on a Gammil. I have since purchased an Eclipse (a longarm machine created by one of the three engineers that developed HandiQuilter) and want to learn more about free style/ruler quilting.

Do you also have the Poly mono filament in the Bobbin?
@kristinawhitneyhqstudioedu7013
@kristinawhitneyhqstudioedu7013 2 жыл бұрын
No. I usually use a 60 wt bobbin that blends as best as possible with the colors on the top. Mono filament is a bit stretchy and trying to wind into a bobbin. It is possible but I prefer not to.

What is your tension adjusted at for the monopoly thread? Thank you
@HandiQuilter
@HandiQuilter 2 жыл бұрын
I loosen the tension so that it is balanced with the bobbin and not breaking. There isn't a specific number that I can give you as each machine is calibrated differently.
