What's a channel lock and why can't it be used on machined surfaces? I'm not very knowledgeable about power tools.

@@dandelionappreciator9712 channel locks are adjustable plumbing pliers/wrenches with teeth meant to grip softer pipes and plumbing items, not hardened tool steels like the nut securing the shaper head. For that, a crescent wrench or box wrench is best.

Those look like knipex. While not great for the tool, there shouldn’t be any great amount of damage from it.
