Very cool. My buddy brought his Krag to the range last week, first time firing one. Looks like you should be able to take a deer with that!

ALWAYS use case lube. They may start going in and out easy but they will get stuck in the dizer die if you don't lube them!!

My Krags chamber perfectly after checking the round with a case gauge prior to firing. The round nose is the preferred bullet head. Did you check out the extractor ?

Extractor appears to be fine, but I may have to check out some specs. The round always chambers fine, but the rim doesn’t go under the extractor when coming out of the magazine. I hate to force the extractor over the rim, but maybe it’s not an issue. I do know it was intended to be single fed at times, so maybe it’s OK to push feed?

@@TheOutdoorGeneralist The US Krags were designed to be single fed with the Magazine being a reserve of ammo for emergencies, meaning the extractor was designed to handle the abuse of riding over the case rim should be a non issue just might damage the brass over multiple chamberings. Nothing can be done about the rounds not being gripped by the extractor when coming out of the magazine since it wasn't designed to do that originally, just a quirk of tracing its heritage to some of the earliest bolt guns.

Where did you find brass? I've been looking everywhere and had no luck.

Hmm I don’t remember, it’s been a while since I bought it. Doesn’t appear there’s much available right now. Might check GunBroker if you really need some.

Ya, I've been debating just paying the extra price at this point and going that route I appreciate it though. also, great video, it's always a pleasure to see more Krag enthusiasts.

@infamousewood You can reform 303 British brass for it. The case mouth will be short but it headspaces off of the rim. Fun fact 303 British was the parent case and is dimensionally the same at the rim.... I was actually cheaper to pull down unfired 303 and resize than to buy cases from gun broker.
