It's nice that Neko-kichi can come outside without a leash and not run away. Too bad Boss-kichi can't do the same. The box is a good idea, but I wonder if it needs to be longer away from the front of the litter box, so Boss-kichi needs to walk on the mat for longer to dislodge sand from his feet. I am interested to see if you come up with a better idea. Thank you for transcribing and sharing!

Like a cat walk...like fashion models. hahaha.Great idea
Not sure if woodwork is a hobby or a career, either way you are very talented. Watched a couple other ones you posted. You have some very happy cats. Thank you for the video. I wish I had the room for this. My cat jumps out too fast as she exits her box. Litter everywhere. I use clumping litter so it can also be dusty. Tried the pellets, she would not use it. To keep her from jumping out as soon as shes done(her box does have a lid), I turned the opening towards the wall. Not perfect, but a lot less mess as before.
Take the small cat mat out of the offertory and place in front of the it to see if that helps. The sand should drop straight through the gaps in the wood strips, helping the sand out of his paws as well. Place the small cat flap in front of the offertory and maybe that will catch any sand left in/on his paws. Hope this helps.
Nice job! I agree with the others that you should place the mat (or one of those rubber mats that catch and trap the sand) in front of the box on the floor. I would also add side walls to the box you made to prevent the cat from exiting to the left or right. Then they will have no choice but to walk forward onto the mat. For my cats, I created a small maze in front of the litter box so they’d have to wipe their feet on the rubber mat 🐈

You are like Bob Villa for cats. You put me to shame. The cat apartment you created is impressive and it inspires me to make one for my cat too.
Suggestion - Thinner slats would work better - to get the litter out from between the toes and the mat should be outside the offfertory box as the last cleaning area for the toes.

Fantastic idea i will definitely have to try this my self, tho i wonder if you put the mat down in front of the offertory box instead if it might reduce even more scattered sand

I agree. I think the slats of wood would help remove the immediate sand, then the mat just outside the box would catch the remaining bits. That’s an excellent idea.

Have two mats. Keep the one and add another in front!

Ya when they put the mat on it, seemed to defeat the purpose, but u can tell they love their cat or cats.

That is what i was thinking. Maybe narrow slots so litter can fall in but paws cannot. Then the mat picks up any leftovers left on paws.

Men. their tools and too much time on their hands hahaha but cool! Wow I have a cat I just got he lived 13 years at a big manufacturing plant he looks just like Boss-Khichi! His name was Roadblock because he would stand out in the road and block the big semi trucks from coming in. I call him Roadie now. They could be related except mine is in America!
