Same way you can get a dog to want to do anything you want. Interesting food, daily enrichment & exercise, positive training. If all their needs are met, why would they leave or run off? Usually running off is because something else is WAY more interesting and fills a need :) Get the balance right and you can do some unleashed exploration as long as you're careful about where you do it ^w^

@The Bay Obviously not all cats are the same. Haku is a Maine Coon, which are known for being water-friendly more dog-like than any other breed of cats. That doesn't make the training any less impressive.

What an ambitious first project. Nice job! For your next project, you can "countersink" your screw heads into the wood by either buying screw bits that have an extra piece to neatly cut out the space for the head or by using a larger bit to do the same thing. I would also keep an eye on the security of the spiral stairs, since you don't know how quickly the driftwood might break down as the cats put pressure on the steps. You can always consider an angle bracket to shore them up. I hope that you and your cats enjoy this for a long time!
