You need to cut back a tad on the Red Bulls. Good build.

I wish I had all the tools you have. I don’t have any of these tools to make this

Thanks for watching! There is always a way. Change the design a bit and you can do it with a circular saw, jig saw and a drill. Add a trim router and you can make rabbets if you want. I didn’t always have these tools, I collected them over years.

@@MakingSawdust Love your videos, but I agree, adding rabbets, dados and grooves like this is quite a bit beyond an "Easy DIY Project for Beginners." But it's all relative, I realize. I'm pretty good at functional, structural projects often on a larger scale like... fences, raised planter beds, and decent indoor bookshelves... On the other hand, fine woodworking and cabinetmaking skills are a different thing... techniques like rabbets, dados, and grooves for precise joinery in fine woodworking... I guess it all depends what you mean by "beginners"... beginners in using wood? No. Beginners in cabinetry? Sure!

Very well said. Perhaps I should make a video that focuses on rabbets and dados. My own opinion is that they are easier than most believe, but I've been using them as a go to method for years, so I'm certainly biased. Thank you for watching and taking the time to give feedback!@@paulsenstudio

I love your energy!!! What did you use for the bottom of the tray? Just plywood?
@MakingSawdust
@MakingSawdust 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! I used 1/4 inch plywood for the bottom. Keeps the weight down and with it locked into dados on all sides it is plenty strong enough.

How tall did you make those sides and ends?
@MakingSawdust
@MakingSawdust 10 ай бұрын
The sides on this tray are 1 and 3/4, but on the next tray I reduced it down to 1 and 5/8 and I like that even better. It gives a small step down from the end to the side. The ends were 2 and 7/8. I think that was just the dimension the wood came out to after cleaning all the edges up. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for watching! Unfortunately, I don't have any drawings for this tray. Don't let dimensions rule your build with this one. Use what you have and if you don't like the end product make alterations next time. My first trays had a completely different handle design that I will never go back to.
I turned a 2x3 stud into a serving tray, without drawing any plans.
