Yeah. I left it as is and tried to keep it to the same height. I ran out of time but wanted to use a mitre to cut at an angle.

How would you do this if instead of a bare wall, there's a length of cut wood attached to the wall and that is where the old handrail was attached to with smaller wood screws? The handrail kit I've got is similar to the one in the video with the same length screw

You could drill into the wood and use longer screws and plugs instead. Then it will go into the wall.

At the moment I have the 14v impact driver and drill. Been looking at the 18v xr set. But this does the job for now.

Hi, great video as Im trying to install the same handrail! What size were your wall plugs?

I normally go for 8mm for brick walls and seemed to work well here. But don't see why 10mm would not work either. At a push you may get away with 6mm but gets a little sketchy.

Apologies, my question was not clear and reading it back, I realise it sounded silly. I mean did the middle bracket attach the 2 rails together and why didn't the customer want the bit you mentioned at the end? Was it because it would not look right?
