I got one of these about 8 years ago but it has no app. I keep it on my counter in the kitchen as a night light. I like when it cycles thru the colors. It’s been working continuously for 6 years now. Very cool light. It was a present.❤

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, kzbin.infoUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

Can this work well for pre-sleep reading? low brightness and low/warm temperature 2700k or less?
@00SNIVY004 жыл бұрын
With the new version you can use it with the Bluetooth app, so you can brighten it up to 100% and use it with or without a Hue Bridge

Jeff, it's because of your reviews that I sub'd to the channel. I appreciate your way of product description and pointing out the good and not so good product characteristics. This is the year I get my iMac 27" once Kaby Lakes are released. Finally I get to give my daughter the ol HP laptop for good. Thanks again for your forthright product review, they do help. TR

Another great Jeff Benjamin production! One small note- the face is convex, not concave. It's too bad that the light *has* to be physically powered on, and not with the app.

you can turn it on with app, when it is connected to the hub

I was thinking this could have been nice for my bathroom but 3 hours charge just won’t cut it and there doesn’t look to be any way to fix it on the wall either. Perhaps the light strip might work...going to watch that video now 😊

Question. 1. Is the Hue Bridge an app? Or another device I have to buy? 2. What happens if the lightbulb inside breaks? Can it be replaced with a normal philips hue bulb? Or what’s the warranty??
@apodexse6 жыл бұрын
ChicagoTurtle1 the Bridge is a physical device. You cannot replace the light bulb. You must replace the Hue Go. But the bulb life should be quite long. The warranty is likely 1 year.

Once it’s fully charged, and then turned off, how long will it remain accessible through a bridge or the app? How long until the fully charged battery dies when the device is off?
@mcindoet6 жыл бұрын
I see the app on your phone. You mentioned"bridge". Is that an additional item to purchase to control the light with your phone? also does it work with Android phone?
@sparklesap6 жыл бұрын
The bridge is the separate little box that you plug into your modem so you can control the Hue lights via the app...have a look on the Philips Hue website or ask at the store where you bought it...they should have tried to sell it to you. The starter globe kit has one included
@konstantinosm.52424 жыл бұрын
So to control the lamp with the app you need the bridge?

It is good but would be much better without the need for a cord, obviously I get it with the battery thing only lasting so long but when you want to place these around your home you're going to have to have loads of plug sockets around your home and wires etc. lol

Could you please explain to me why you need to purchase a separate bridge? I thought the whole point of buying a light like this is the ability to control the light with your smartphone.
@JohnBaxendale5 жыл бұрын
Because your phone only has WiFi or BlueTooth. WiFi is higher power usage than the ZigBee protocol built into the bulbs. ZigBee is also a mesh network, meaning the lights are much simpler to deploy around a large space without having WiFi connectivity issues. The Bridge therefore "bridges" between your phone (wifi) and ZigBee, additionally, it provides stand-alone functionality like providing an API gateway to other apps and allows for timers and location based services to work without having to rely on your phone connectivity.
